That is pretty cool. One thing's for sure though, that is a bodyman's nightmare.

I don't remember what year (Oldsmobile or Buick station wagon) came out with that back glass and door that rolled down into the body (like that car door in the video) but it was a nightmare to work on.

I've only worked on one that was hit in the back end. The tracks was screwed up, everything was knocked out of line. What should've taken a couple of hours to replace the door, it took me a day and a half. You would get one problem straightened out and another one would occur.

I told the boss man (my friend Zabe) that I was ready to quit! He just laughed.

I'm sure a highly complex system, how will it perform in a collision, how does it do in the rain (just some questions I have). Now, for a show car, that's the cats meow. Overall impression though: K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid)

Actually Daniel, it was the Chevy Kingswood Estate Wagon...along with it's Buick and Oldsmobile brethren...

The rear hatch retracted into the floor and the glass retracted into the roof...A real nightmare. Not suprisingly, there aren't too many still around.

Destruction derby eliminated most of them, until the sanctioning body banned station wagons...Thank God....what monsters.
