My wife went in to the hospital Wednesday for a partial knee replacement. All went pretty good except for a lot of pain. I just brought her home tonight (Friday). Everything looks pretty good but I figured the extra thoughts and prayers couldn't hurt. Thanks all.

I hope she gets better. The knee can be sore for a while. Change bandages often. That will keep it clean.

I've recently undergone two total hip replacements, so I'm somewhat familiar with what your wife is going through. However, the results are worth the pain (there is a lot of pain associated with these major orthopedic procedures), so just encourage her to work her way through it -- as well as through the physical therapy which will inevitably follow. It takes a little while, but she'll be just fine.

I wish both of you the very best.

Mike

I'm glad the operation went ok and that she's doing fine. We all will be thinking about her. Keep us posted Al.

Express my best wishes for her speedy recovery. Knees can be tricky; take it slow for a while. (I agree, a nice ride in the Vette would do wonders for the psyche).

Gee Al, I had no idea. Last time we saw her she made no mention of problems. My wife and I both agreed that she seemed way too young for that kind of surgery.

Obviously pass on our best and tell her to do what the doctors and physio therapist say to do. Hope to see her at Fort St (unsure yet)

My wife has had a total on both knees and her sister has had one. I can tell you that how hard you work on the theropy has a lot to do with the result. Don't push it too far and cause inflamation making things worse, but do not take it too easy as you will not get the results. No pain no gain, so you have to push it. Find the ballance that work for her.

She is actually doing very well. She's running around the house without the walker most of the time and bending it very well. Even in the hospital while she was eating she was sitting indian style. A nurse will come to the house twice a week to check her blood (she's on thinners to prevent clotting) and a physical therapist comes here three times a week. The nurse came today and said in the 28 years she's been doing this, she has never seen anyone doing so well after this procedure.

It's hereditary. Her Mon and all her brothers have bad knees. It was always painful for her to walk any time longer than 15 minutes or so. She would never really complain (except to me).

We really hope to see you guys at the Fort Street Cruise, but that's for another thread.

I know a couple of folks that has had knee replacement. Their only regret was not having it done sooner. Hope she continues to heal without problems.
