Here's a link that some one sent to me about the age of tires. I already knew about the 6 year age of tires but we thought about that from date of purchase. In this video from ABC news is the hidden age of tires and their shelf life. Between lack of government action and corporate hidden agenda...are we being ripped off again?

How many times have any one of us gone to the odd tire store and placed an order for new tires? The dealer might say the tires would have to be ordered because they don't stock this size or model.
Now, this is strictly my opinion. If what is stated in the video is true and keeping in mind and media hype or sensationalism, if all these tires are being stock piled for that long a time frame then there's something wrong with manufacturing quotas.
Another can of worms for us to worry about

I bought a set of tires last fall. Would you believe it if I told you they are weather cracked already? It's been hot a few days. But nothing I would imagine to crack tires in a short tire life. Ironic. Tread looks like new, but side walls are cracked. They look like 25 year old tires lol.

Justen, when were they built? As the video explained they might be new but been on the shelf for years.

I don't know. I'll have to look it up once. Probably made in like 1989 or something. Just my luck. :p

My point exactly. Watch the video again and look for tha silly hiden date code one the tire. You might be entitled to new replacements or a refund.
I checked with my Bridgestone/Firestone dealer yesterday and he said that release was about 4 months old and that it only catered to Sears and 2 other brands. Sorry, I can't remember who they are but will find out and post.
The big brands are too aware of the situation and don't want hassel so they check for rotation

Looks like my tires were made in 2005. Figures, Mine are bridgestone AT's. 245 load range E tires are not cheap. Maybe I can get a set if I complain about them being weather cracked.

I would if I were you. I have Bridgestones on my explorer and Firestones on my Bucket (both new)
Bridgestone Firestone had bad press a few years ago with a certain model tires and SUVs I'm sure a decent dealer will give you a break.
Be prepared he might say he has to pro-rate the tires. Meaning he has to decuct the amount of tread already used on your existing set, so you might have to pay some small charge for existing wear. Or, maybe your dealer goes for the whole package.
Try to let him know how soon AFTER you bought the tires that you noticed the cracking

I would settle for that. Thats cheaper then buying new tires. I'm going to take it in tomarrow and see what they say. I put one tire on the rear because it has such a deep crack in it. If it blows atleast it's on the backend.

sheesh, between you Danny and Daniel Wood you guys refer to blowing in the back end all the time. Maybe it's time to see a doctor? :D

Getting all new tires, all I got to pay for is balancing and mounting. So I can settle for that.

That's awesome.
1) Did they say anything about manufacturer's date versus date of sale?
2) did they acknowledge anything about the video from ABC?
Check the manufacturer's date on the new set.

Na they didn't tell me about any dates or brand or anything. The guy took the tire off to look at it. Came back a few minutes later and said, we will replace them. So what it cost me total was $38.50 for everything.
