I'm looking for opinions of the product called Zmax. Is it any good? Does anyone have any experience with it?
I stopped beliveing in after market additives a while ago. But sometimes new chemistry can work

I tried it a couple of years ago...Didn't make any difference that I could detect in performance or fuel economy. It did swell up some of the rubber seals on my engine, like the PCV gromet and the valve cover gaskets....
Zmax isn't a new product, Pork....it's been around for at least ten years that I know of.

Thanks Saltmine. I know it's been around for a while and it's not new and there are so many wonder cures on the market and we know that half of them are snake oil. But I think Danny had the best question about the carbon destroying feature. That alone might be worth at least one purchase

I didn't see or detect anything changing as far as carbon deposits, but.....the truck I had at the time wasn't prone to carbon buildup, so I can't say for sure.
Usually a little water misted into the intake will remove more carbon than any expensive "snake oil".

Only thing I seen that works SOME is seafoam. Otherwise Zmax and all these others I haven't seen do much of anything. Sometimes I think it's water in a bottle. Gm top end cleaner works. But it's spendy. Put half a bottle of seafoam in the gas tank, the other half sucked into your brake booster hose. That cleans the carbon out pretty good. Smokes like the devil for 15 minutes. A relief period with no mosquitoes. It just sucks I have to order it all the time and no one carries it on hand around here.

I have used the Z-Max gas treatment. It felt like it did something for just off the wall generic performance. I don't have any testing equipment to scientifically determine any affects that may have been gained/lost though. I kind of missed the boat by not following the instructions. The instruction was to dump a bottle in the gas tank with 1/4 of gas left in tank and run it through. Instead, I dumped a bottle and filled my tank, dumb me... story of my life! So, and it is good for 6,000 miles.
I donno, the episode Two Guys had on the Z-Max products really tempted me and I tried the above. I want to try the gas product again, but, this time go by the instructions. Also want to try the oil additive product and gear additive. I am thinking the oil additive Z-Max product is for all oils...differentials, manual transmissions, transfer cases...etc. If I am wrong about the oil additive, please let me know.
I am really a kind of leery type of guy. I don't generally believe in additives or other enhancement types of things due to some bad experiences. But, the way Z-Max claims to condition the surface of metal rather than coat the metal with some type of whatever, I am wanting to be a sucker and try all their products.
