Have you considered product liability insurance? Somebody gets hurt on one of your "creations", .........
Oh, and just because it's a friend, think again. Courts are full of friends suing friends.

good point, the old saying better off safe than sorry applies here, research insurance options for the products you will offer to the public. at least learn what disclaimers are.

but i dont see how he is liable if he made somthing that someone else bought. If you buy a car from a dealeship they have no liability if you crash it, you have to get your own as the purchaser.

I have "Completed Product Liability" insurance for my boat business. Basically, I am responsible for the whole boat because I was the LAST ONE to work on it. In the event of a catistrophic failure, the last one to work on it is to blame. This is so even if I did not touch the area that failed. These are not my rules, they are the Court System's. Auto Repair/Building insurance is very resonable in price as opposed to boat business insurance. I'd get it if I were you even if you buy parts and put them on. You must prove that you did the correct installation and then pass it up to the manufacturer. BUt your still the guy they'll sue.
Regards,
Dave

i am a carpenter and it works much the same for me-if i build something and it fails then it's up to me to correct it. by the same token if the item is altered by the consumer then it becomes their responsibility

That's why there are sooo many law suits in the courts. Nobody wants to take resposibility for other peoples mistakes or stupidity. Well as for ths stupid, thats why more and more companies have to put warning advisors on products. IE; on a stroller: remove child before folding. I could go on for hours... nuff said.
