who makes a good reliable truck now days? Im not gonna have this sequoia much longer as its my dads and i have to give it back at the end of this school year. Next year im gonna be going to UTI and its about 45 miles each way so thats a lot of miles over a period of time. its all freeway miles. I know that toyota has a good reputation, eventhough im leary about their new v8 power plant. I want a mid sizer like a tacoma, dakota, s-10, ranger.... The only thing keeping me from getting american is the fact that i know that the toyota will be better for all the miles that im putting on it. am i on the right thinking path?

We just did a show on the new Dodge Cummins and man is it nice. Pretty expensive, but that diesel engine is pretty sweet.

Never had a Toyota, but they have a good rep! My 91 Cherokee has 198,000 on it and is very minimal upkeep, although I'm tired of riding on a skateboard-like suspension!

Dodge ram, 94 up is a great ride, near 20mpg on the road w/v8
My 77 toyota long bed 5 speed was reliable but noisy, rough riding

I know that toyotas are good but has the competition been creeping up on toyota and making similar quality trucks? take for example the ranger. compare it to the tacoma in reliablitiy. same with dakota and s-10. Basically im looking for a truck that im only gonna have to change oil and brakes. Im guessing it will be the toyota but has anyone had an american truck like this?
