Do you mean email messages? Big Bry sends emails when you, or anyone gets a reply on a thread they posted on. It may not be specificly for that poster, just on the same thread. keeps you coming back, Nice job, Bry!

thanks fotw,
I am going to check that out now, I have been reading the thread about remember when, Wow there is a lot of reading there, I admire the way you speak of your Father, at 16, not many your age care anything about what their parents are interested in, unless it is giving them anything that they want and dont earn.

My father and I had a good relationship, and we worked on his cars alot as I was growing up, I used to be mad sometimes as he would have me do all of it, I would get home from school and just slide on the cover alls and his thing was Transmission, every car he got seemed it needed a trans. I could do a brake job when I was 10, change oil, u joints, you name it, well this is a car site. I have made a living in the past in the automotive world and now I just am back to enjoying what I can do with them as I get inspired by tv shows or magazines. I am almost two years behind in the magazine world with my subscriptions, I got a computer and there is so much to check out, it's great. I do owe a lot to my Father though as most of the things he tough me I can still apply to what interest me now.

with time being spread so thin, try to do the job right the first time and sometimes that may take a little more time, but compared to doing it twice, the time saved will be worth it. Does your ford have the type of radiator that has the tank on the engine, I had a 62 wagon with the 292 v8 and it had the coolant tank away from the engine.

Ahh not sure. But I am doing things right I am going through the car replacing what needs it or will need it soon. I want to not only to look good but be good. I have brakes all changed over bushing joints i have the interior striped all the floor boards need replacing and the toe panles also the truck pan I cant find that though. I am geting new rims then I will take the motor out and sandblast the engine compartment and paint it. I want to soup up the motor not sure just if i should go stroker kit or just preformance parts. Ahhh i could go on and on about that car I love it. My first car is a classic love that. I am lucky I have a cousin that is the manager at Napa so I can get d@mn near any parts. The ballsjoint on the car I had to cut them out of the arms, they were the orginal joint joint. I got a kick outta that. Anything more you want to know feel free to ask or give me some ideas that would be great.

Yes, it sounds like you are on the right track, when sand blasting, watch the windshield. I once had a 66 Mercury comet/cyclone. It was not the notorious car with the 390, it was a factory cyclone with a 289. Your engine must not be stock, I am not sure when the 302 was first out. My first car was a 1962 Mercury comet, I lived in Michigan and the salt is bad there and both cars had rust in the frame in the same area's, The cyclone literley broke in half, the weak spots are in the frame area between the door and the front fenders and in the rear just as the frame starts upward to go over the rear end. Check these two area's good, it would be sad to work so hard to see it go away on you. I loved the interior on the cyclone, chrome from the dash down into the floor console and those colorfull shift lights at nite were great.

I belive that it had a 289 in it to start. Maine dose a number on cars too but the car is from NC so not much there. The car was in a few accidents so I quit a few dents to pond out, there is rust on those few spots. Is there a sertant thickness sheet metal that I should use to fix the hole in the metal. I dont want any bondo on it. Like I said I am doing all this work it is going to be good. Any ideas on the strocker kit or preformance parts?

The thickness is very important in your floor work and patching, if you still have carpet and are going with the headers, heat is a great concern as the heat could burn the carpet, and your ride. Alumnium is good and it disssipates heat, ( resist) and cools down almost immediatley. In Michaigan I had worked for the highway department and had access to old signs and that is way back in the early 70's when they changed all there highway signs and went with just images, no words, ( slippery when wet, turn ahead) those type of signs, they were thick and formed well and in Michigan the floor boards are usually gone on a car of say 8 to 10 old years back then, the rust proofing is far better now.

Ya the way that I am looking at it now I see about 3 grand going into the engine compartment AHHHHHHH not what I was hopeing but hey what the hel| it is only a few more months off the road be nice when I get it dont. Do you have a specific band that you like for headers?

I would get more info than I am going to give you, however it would seem you will have plenty of room, but I would not want to scrimp on them, Quality is important here, there is no fun in always having to retorqe them or searching for the perfect header gasket to seal them up, and if you can get some coated headers, they are even better. I would look for good fit and a good grade steel.
