I have a handy cap though, I have a kitten in one lap an jealous chichuachua in the other. Haveing so much in put it is hard to stick any where long. I enjoy this forum very much and when I get back to work I will get some others to check in to it, I would like to set a time where all of us get on line and break that 84 at one time record up there, new years day or something like that, maybe just after the news or a game. just to see how good it goes.

fotw
11-27-2002, 02:57 AM
I know how you feel with the jealous dogs. I have 2 dogs and they are always fight over who gets pet first when you walk through the door. We should do that, break that record. When do you think is the best time or day every one can get online at once?

Trader Ray
11-27-2002, 05:25 PM
Well, I thought that with everyone usually off for these holidays we could use one of them as a date, and we have to see if any one else is up to it, what about Christmas Eve and at a said time, it is rough to set up as we are all on differant time zone's. It would be nice to do as long as it did not crash the server, any one else have any thoughts on this?

rapideo
11-27-2002, 06:59 PM
I had the same thought, but didnt post it because I thought it might blow the tubes in Big Bry's old Gateway Doubt that a holiday would be the best time. Just some weekday evening might work better

Trader Ray
11-27-2002, 08:06 PM
I would be open for any day and any time up, I get to go back to work the 9th of December, I have been off for awhile and I am not sure what time or shift I will be able to return too, but to be part of breaking the record will be cool..

fotw
11-27-2002, 08:53 PM
I say that we just leave the page open on any given day like christmas eve becuase once it it open just leave it open in the corner or something and by the time everyone get on there should be alot of people lwith it open. Dose this make sence if not let me know Ill reword it

Trader Ray
11-27-2002, 09:57 PM
I'd say that would work, especially for those on a cable modem, when would be the best day? I wonder just what day would be a good day. we have a few people thinking about it now. I think it could be done if planned right. Of course we want to have the blessing of BIGBRY on this and not cause any problems for this forum.

fotw
11-27-2002, 10:33 PM
Hey Bigbry Mr. Eyeinthesky dose this sound ok with you. can you server hold it I should be ok but just to make sure. That is if you even read this

Like I said, I enjoyed it and it was just one of those things I wanted to do. The learning potential is great, years after that job I ended up in the slammer for a expired drivers licence, it was expired more than 90 days and it was from Arkansas. well it was late night and the lights were out and there were 15 or 20 locked up and one dude was a mean sounding thug that had been telling everyone to shut up so he could get some sleep, well I did not want to get in this guys way. The morning came and I look at this dude and he says my name and tells me where I know him from, I used to air up his bike tires almost daily and had shown him how to patch it once and for all, I knew his father and mother from the yard and asked "hows your mother" and you should have heard the others. I was happy I had helped that "kid" out like I did.

fotw
11-28-2002, 09:24 PM
Yeah I am finding out that in school, I talk about my car, and now kids are coming up to asking about cars. You would be surprised how little they know. One kid ask me how to patch a small crack in his bummer *(plastic) so I told him sand it bond-o the hel| out it and replaint with some touch up paint at the local car store. After I was done explaing how he asked me Bond-o. I was taken back, I mean this is one of those kids that talk like they know everything becuase he airbaged his car. I laughed about that one for a while befor I could explain what is was

still no message, becarefull with the oil drain hose. Could end up costing more than the $10.00. I would worry about it hitting the ground or curb going in a drive way. Once the oil is gone the motor leaves trying to find it!!

fotw
11-29-2002, 12:02 AM
The hose come on and off you take it off when you are done with the change. So it is no lower then stock. I am setting up a sit in MSN to show you my car. But I have to get a cheap Digital camera so that I can make the pics fit. Ill try and pic one up this weekend.
Here is the link there is one in there of what it will look like when I am dont. subtract the hood scope. I dont see you that can get the air to the intake so it is ponitless. Anyways here it is http://groups.msn.com/fotw/shoebox.msnw

Trader Ray
11-29-2002, 12:48 AM
I beleive the fitting that the hose connects to and remains with the vehicle is about 1 inch long. I have not seen one out of the package though.

fotw
11-29-2002, 12:52 AM
i would not be to worried about hitting the gorund. If my car hit the curb at 1 inch then I would be thinking about lifting my car

fotw
11-29-2002, 12:54 AM
Living in maine we have pot holes are are a foot deep. So the slightest dip in the road would make it bottem out. You would not believe how many people lower the car in maine. Just not starm in my mind

Trader Ray
11-29-2002, 01:33 AM
I guess it is a matter of this or that, I just dont have the faith in the valve and I have good ground clearance. It is the 1 inch that I would not trust. But I am sure that Fram has done some extencive test on it before it sent it out to the public.

fotw
11-29-2002, 01:43 AM
Ya but something that i dont understand is that fram has the suregrip thing right well if people were smart they would think of some house hold items. Like those rubber things that you use to losen tight jars, knwo what i mean?, and then use that to losen it. It will save you a few bucks every old change and if you do it religiously like some do (I will be one of them) then a few bucks times 50/100 oil changes means that alot of money.

Trader Ray
11-29-2002, 05:48 PM
yes, I agree about the sure grip. Have you ever changed oil on a s10 4x4 with a 2.8. put it this way, the easiest way to do it is to remove the left front wheel and then you can only feel your way, I bought one of those filter adapters for it, but even then it is messy and I hate leaks. I am sure that the quick change places have a vacuum type of pick to drain the filter, cause if not they would have so many come backs from people that noticed the dripping they would not get anything else done.

Trader Ray
11-29-2002, 05:52 PM
I know that newer blazers than mine (1984) have filter relocating kits on them, I need to check into that and see if one is availible for my 2.8 engine.

Not a looker but with 56 org miles and the underside looks brand new why not. Atleast till I get my 64 out of the garage

Trader Ray
12-08-2002, 10:20 PM
Thats the way to get the 64 done right, the need to not have to rush usually ends up with the project car being a better one when finished

fotw
12-08-2002, 10:32 PM
Yeah that is the way that I see it, if I am spending this much time and money I am gonna make sure that it is done right. To many people just put an overhaul kit in it and call it done. I am going though replaceing or fixing what I can.

The reason people drive Chevys and Dodges is because they HAVE driven a Ford!

Trader Ray
12-10-2002, 12:05 PM
I do know this from my own experiance. Around the area mentioned, the first vehicle to start rusting is a Ford. The doors separate in just a few years, trucks suddenly get these large holes in the floor board. Chevy is next with the rust, and in this order Chevy is a distant second. Now to Dodge, they were made, back then anyways, with a type of metal that was far better than the other two, in 1980 you could look at all three makes from 1973 and the Dodge would be the one with the less rust on it. Ford had the best front suspension, twin I beam, but the Chevy's were the truck to have, they drove like a car and Well, hey its a Chevy!!1

I agree s10. I still live in the Downriver area (Southgate) and can relate to what you said. My Dad had a '63 Dodge Dart that ran forever. He sold it to his cousin and he drove it for years until someone stole it. My Dad even got rear ended in it once by a Ford. The Ford had major damage, but the Dart had only a dent in the trunk. That thing seemed like a tank. If you get back to the Downriver area around the 4th of July, check out Cruising Downriver. It's a 3 day car event that rivals the Woodward cruise. Check out www.cruisingdownriver.com

I had two different Fords over the course of 10 years and I now no longer drive a Ford. Actually when you see the A/C show, that is actually my old Explorer that I recently got rid of. Man it road horribly. The engine ran great, but the worst ride ever.

I was in Detroit one week this year, it was the week of the Fouth of July, I went to My Youngest Daughter's place as she was in her 8th month of pregnacy and the area was already setting up for the Cruize. I went to the new A&W resturant on Dix there and it was set up for the cruize. I read about the Woodward Dream Cruize and I have a Cruisen plate that my Mother sent me from it. My timeing is lousey, I hope to improve this upcoming show season.

s10 just go to www.cruisingdownriver. com or www.woodwarddreamcruise.com to find all the info you need. The downriver cruise is not jusy Wyandotte. It runs from Lincoln Park to Riverview and back. It is a great time. I know the A&W you talk about. It's about a half mile from my home. In this area in the summer, there is a car show every night of the week. Ahhh the motor city!

Trader Ray
12-13-2002, 01:12 PM
Yes to the ahh the motor city! I miss being there for so many reasons, but the pot holes this time of year are not on the list of fond memories. I know a girl that lives on Champain and Dix..lol, I know you have heard that joke a thousand times. I will book mark those sites and check them out. I thank you for them.

For those of us a lil further in Dearborn, the 50's McDonalds is the place to be right off Telegraph between Michigan and VanBorn Rd. It is the only Official Public parking-lot in my area allowed by local law-enforcement. During the Spring and throughout all Summer months including early Oct every Fri, Sat night is a good 50-75 hot rod turnout. Ive seen em all from Pantera's to full Customs. If any Michigander's are looking for a good cruise any good weathered weekend cruise Telegraph from Joy Rd to VanBorn!

Trader Ray

Is there not one on Southfield near Allen Rd. Or is the one you refer to the only one that allows the cars to gather?

Stormngt
12-14-2002, 08:59 PM
No Dad, the police around the metro D have really cracked down on car shows, as it seems to promote drag racing and big crowds, I personally dont agree but this reason has locked down many gathering spots, except the 50's in Dearborn, the Sears Shopping center in Lincoln Park and the much profittable Woodward cruise. The city once know as the Motor City is now Casino City! Detroit Dragway was taken from us, all track ideals are cut into lost memories and kids resort to street racing. But if you want to feel young again the 50's on Telegragh si the place, and with that slow recess in your hairline, it looks like you need a little sprucing up yourself, HAHA!

Let me take this op to thank my Dad (s10 Blazer) for the invite, and to thank you all for such a great forum to reply to!

s10 you can find a good size car show every night of the week during the summer around here (Downriver). The cops only crack down if there are excessive burnouts and racing. The Sears Lincoln Park shopping center on Friday night is the place to be from about 4:30 pm to about 9:30 and then they all cruise over to the Thunderbowl in Allen Park. I'm sure you know where that is. Car shows have quadrupled over the last 3-4 years.

I have a Daughter that lives two streets before Sears on Garfield St. and I remember way back when the tv show "Bowling for Dollars" was shot at the thunderbowl, and I use to eat at the sub shop across the street called Mike & Sylvia's. I remember Janice Joplins referance to the Bowling for dollars show..I have been approved for my days off in Febuary to attend the auto rama, and I will be there on a Saturday. I will get with you through PM's closer to the date and see if we cant atleast meet and say hello. That will be cool. I have the days off from 2/21,22,23 and then I head back south for work.
