I can remember when the wings were the team that had the worst record in NHL, Now they are a legend and are the team that all pllayers dream of. My family is so big on them it is not funny. My brother came here a few years back and stayed on the couch and would not go any where as he was watching the playoffs.

Yeah s10, I remember the DEADWING era too. They used to have to give away a new car every home game to get people to attend. Now they have at least a 3 year waiting list for season tickets! Life is good in Hockeytown!

I know, its great! My youngest brother is so red wing devoted, he sent me a picture of him and his girl at the parade for them and he is right next to the Stanley Cup. My Mother on the other hand is a Pistons fan through and through, her dog's name is Piston and she had one before named Isaha. Her Favorite of all time is Bill Lambeir.

If we could only do something about the Tigers and Lions! Oh well, I should count my blessings I live in a town with 4 major sports teams.

Well, it seems I will have no problem getting those days off, I have the paper in front of me to fill out! If you move to a town that does not have a sports team, well I guess a state is more the word they dont want to hear about Detroit and their sports heritage. I live 4 to 5 hours from Atlanta, but Atlanta is the number one team for the people here in East Tennessee. We do have the Titans and they are a kick butt team, but I am not a football fan, I was Tiger's true for years, I went to their games as child and remember 75 cents to get in. I once yelled to Al Kaline the whole game "Hey Al" until he turned around and waved to me, that was all I wanted was to have him acknowledge me. Is he still broadcasting the game? I have shook Ron LeFlores hand and have been just a few feet from Chet Lemmon. I was at one of the games that Fielder hit 3 homers. I used to come up every Fathers Day and go to a game with my Dad and my brothers. I could go on and on about the good ole' days..

Sounds like you were growing up at Tiger Stadium about the same time I was growing up at the race track at Bristol. I saw the first Spring Nationals they had at the drag strip in 65. I remember seeing all the old timers like the Ramchargers, Gapp and Roush, Sox and Martin, Hemi Under Glass, Little Red Wagon, Jungle Jim, Roger Lindamood's Color Me Gone. Man that was fun. Nobody could bang a four speed like Ronnie Sox.
The first round track race I saw there was about that same time. **** Hutchinson won it in a 65 Galaxy. I still enjoy going.

Just hearing the words Tiger Stadium makes me happy, now it is Comerica Park or some thing like that. I have been to Bristol raceway for both the IHRA and Nascar Trucks, no Busch or Cup races. I cant afford them.lol I would love to have seen the old time draggs. I have always thought that the two very differant names of "Pure Heaven" and "Pure Hell" would have been a race to see. I would have liked to see the lil red wagon in person and the hemi under glass as well. I still go to bristol although I am sorry to say I have not been there since the new make over, I was there the last day of the season before the rebuild. It is funny after a day at the track, how only one side of your face has a sunburn. I always take the highway back because a 11 E trip to Morristown would be a set up for sure because it is impossible to not speed after being there all day. I was in Johnson City when you all got that snow about a month ago. I loved it..

S10, Yeah the NASCAR races at Bristol are expensive, but Bruton Smith always sells $5 tickets to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for the Saturday races (Busch and NHRA). I used to be a Scout leader and have a friend that has a daughter in Girl Scouts, so there are usually cheap tickets available. A lot of people take advantage of those.
One of my favorite events is the Bristol Bash in Sept. Car show, drags, auto cross, lots of vendors, etc. They ran Jungle Jim's old Vega funny car there this past year. Man, that thing was all over the track. Makes you appreciate some of the old drivers. They had their hands full.

I seem to have to work the Saturdays that there is something there, I would like to go to Super Chevy or any event really, but I am sure you know how timing is. I wanted to get there for the Christmas deal they have there, but other things prevailed. It would be nice if I did not live so far from there, We have two Dragstips here locally, Cherokee and English Mountain. I am usually at the English Mountain strip on the weekends as they are about 20 minutes away. They run well into the night sometimes.

I heard Detroit is now going to have a new sports program, its kind of like AA, if your overpaid @$$ cant play in the hired sport you played, then they swap player to another sport, like a tiger playing for the Lions and visa-versa! Anything would help with the Lions and who knows might even benifit the Tigers too! LOL! Just food for thought!
