Surprise surprise I found something that is a great idea. I got a flat today in my buick. No problem right just change the tire ok, so I get it all out (mine you it is 10 degress out) and have it jacked up. Go to take that hubcap out stuck, huh?? There is a little thing in the center of the cap that need to be losen to take it off. Looking and looking, how the heck do I get that out? Take out owner manual say there is a "special key" located in the trunk fastened to the floor with velcro. Looking, looking nothing. By the way I should mentioned that I had no tools in the car yet. I am going out tommorow to make up a toolbox for it. Anyways, no key. Now I know that the spare has never been used because there was still the gray ban around the jack. So I have to call my father and have him bring me a screw driver and hammer so that I can get this thing off. 2 hours later and shivering to death I am back home typing this. I thought that you would want to see it always prassing GM and there superiority.

Now you know that any car can get a flat. And the unused jack and spare are a good sign, must have been a trouble free car most of its life. Or it was never serviced at all by a shadetree type and has had all its work done by a dealer. Or no work has ever been done at all on it and it is ready for everything. In that case you are in for a great deal of repairs soon. Some people see a car with 40 K on it and say low mileage, I first look to see if it has the original belts, hoses, spark plug wires and those type of things because at 40 K it is going to be ready for a lot of those things if not replaced already.

So I go out to my car today to go to the junk yard to bye that key. Click, shoot it bat is dead. Ok I am pÔssed off. I get out my self jumper, nice product, and charge up the bat. Turn it over. Runs for 10 secs and dies. What the hell is wrong now. I try again and the engine jucj cranks. I start thinking, hmmmm. I find out that the gas gauge is messed up. I have no gas. Lucky my father has some in the shed for when we were working on an old mower. So to recap, no "special key" to get hub off, bat dies *(it was a newer bat too), and gas gauge is missed up. Oh and I forgot, there is no latch to hold the hood up. There is a small hydraulic like thing to old the hood open, that no longer works. So I had to hold the hood up with my hockey stick. Way to go GM

What you describe could have happened to any brand automobile, and unless the assembly line forgot to give you one of those keys (doubtfull), most of the stuff you describe is lack of maintenance or operator error. I don't want to start a flame war here but I do want to support GM for making some pretty darn good cars.

I think you dont know me very well. I have been cathcing alot of hell lately on these forums for restoring my 64 ford, so this is just a way for me to give it back. I know the GM has made some good cars, ford has too. It is just all in good fun.

fotw......there are many ways to project yourself. There is the professional method in which people can get or obtain an impression that is everlasting. There is the UNprofessional method in which you have recently demonstrated. I will help you, along with others in this forum, but your toilet type (pottie mouth) verbage is not necessary. I can do many things with this keyboard, and have NOT found it to be necessary to portray myself as the latter.
As far as the "key", it was a rather simple solution to a serious problem at the time. And that was to prevent those wire wheel covers from being stolen.
Ford promptly answered the call, but in Ford's way, they used duct tape to keep the covers on and had writing on the duct tape, like the police yellow tape, that said DO NOT STEAL WHEEL COVER(S).
Of course, that worked about as well as anything else comming from Ford...........

Nah, I'm not mad, just defending my brand. We actually see alot of that in the Forums, and of course, that's what makes them fun (bench racing, as they say). I concur to the above, no malice intended or taken.

All the ribbing is good and I give it out more that I get it, well I do have a chevy and that probally has something to do with it. In all honesty though, I could end up with a izuzu or a ford or what ever because I need to drive and will buy what ever I need to if I am suddenly taken from the safe confines of my old Blazer. It could get hit, stolen or burned and I would have to take what I could get. I have been saving all my quarters for a little over six months so I am sure I could get a rustange, I mean mustang if I needed too.

danny I drive a buick becuase it was the cheapest front whell drive I could find. Tell you all the truth I dont care if it has wheel and it gets you from point A to point B then go with it. I just like ribbin on Chevy becuase my uncle is a chevy man and my fairlane is in his garage. So I am use to defendin it
