got an old poncho 4 cyl with bad valve seals wondering if any suggestions on installing new valve seals without head removal car runs great gets 32 mpg but smokes blue at startup and idle and any high vacume over13psi, on highway no smoke relatively low vacume under 9psi with throttle applied the blue cloud is annoying but not enough to pull this head and deal with the down time on this 1.8ohc alum head any info appreciated dan

if you mean umbrella seals....
pull valve cover and remove rocker arms.
hookup high pressure air line to spark plug hole (you need a threaded air connection to thread in the hole...old spark plug with hole drilled thru center and welded connector works good).
use valve spring tool to compress the spring.
remove the keepers and spring.
install the rubber umbrella seal.
reinstall the spring and keepers.
do next cylinder same way.

You can do the oldest backyard fix.... Remove all the spark plugs so you can turn the motor by hand (with wrench) remove valve cover and clean area of all gasket and sealer material remove all rocker arms (keep them in order) turn motor until one cylinder's valves are completely closed (preferably compression stroke) insert small diameter rope into spark plug hole until cylinder is full and it will hold the valves closed until you are done (you can't push anymore in...LOL) compress valve spring and remove valve stem locks (DON'T drop them...LOL) remove retainers and springs (don't mix them they may be valve specific) remove old valve stem seals and replace with new ones reverse above steps to reinstall
