my fifth avenue is not wanting to start. my dad and i recently replaced the ignition coil after the car didn't want to run and kept back firing. after we replaced it it ran fine up until a few days ago. it started mis-firing badly and today it wouldn't even crank over. we replace the rotor cap and button but i don't know if i put the wires in the right location considering the old cap didn't tell you where the No. 1 tower was at. if any one knows where i can get the firing order for it i would appreciate that. also, if you know what my problem is let me know. one other thing that you should know is that the car did have a power antenna but we took it off and taped off the end of the wires. i don't if the tape has come off and it something i'm not looking foward to doing considering you have to take off the tire and the inside wheel well cover to get to it. thanks again if you have any suggestions.

Usually the firing order is stamped on the intake manifold somewhere.

Want help on the firing order??? We know 5th Ave. What year and engine size.
You said that it would not crank over, that is a starter problem, not a firing order problem.
You can't kill a 5th Ave.???? Sounds like yours just laid down and died on its own......
(Why do I get the picture of a 5th Ave. in somebody's backyard with the hood open under a big Oak tree??????)

If your Fifth Ave has the 318ci engine, the firing order is 18436572
firing order is clockwise, hope this helps

my Fifth Avenue is a 1988 w/318 5.2L 2 bbl 650 cfm carb. it has 124k original miles. oh and the car didn't just lay down and die, it went down kicking and screaming. one other thing about my "unkillable" car, is how bad the brakes are on it. who ever installed the front brakes managed to put the callipers on backwards. that plus some other major components is gonna cost me about $500 to repair. i think i now know why the guy i bought it from was selling it for $600. so far i've had to do general tune-up stuff, had to get the idler arm and pitman arm replaced, two new front tires, alignment (it still isn't 100% aligned because the steering box has excessive play and needs replaced), ignition coil, change the transmission fluid and filter (that was fun considering the repair book didn't tell you how big a mess it makes when the fluid comes down all at once), the front seats need replace, the winshield needs replaced, the canvas top needs replaced, the carburetor needs to replaced, the antenna needs work, need two new back tires, exaust pipes have a leak, speedometer doesn't work right, etc., etc. i'm sure there are other things on the car that need fixing. so do y'all think i got a bum deal or what? thanks for all you comments and suggestions.

WHAT????? HOW????? welded them on?????
That's like putting in a headlight upside down, it can be done, but it takes a LOT of effert.
As far as the 5th Ave. goes, do this. Raise the antenna to full mask, clip the ball off of the antenna, and drive a Ford under it. That really won't solve all of your problems, but it WILL give you something new to deal with.......
