HELP!!!11999 GMC Serria 1500 z71

Hi all, I have a 99 GMC and it wont start. I can start it by jumping it, The battery has a green Eye. Once I jump it, and drive down the road, The odomider, tach, gas,temp and all the other gages go haywire. I check all the fuses and they look fine. I started the truck and left it running for about an hour, turned off and will not start, Doesnt even turn the egine. Please, any advise is greatly appreciated

Check the terminals for cleanliness and tightness; if all is okay there, then maybe it is a bad battery. The green eye is only checking specific gravity in one cell, and you may have a bad cell elsewhere. Put a voltmeter on the battery, if it is okay you may need to do a load test on the battery and see if it is good. (You can take it to most places that sell batteries and they usually have a battery checker on the premisses.)
