Go buy a copy of Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords Magazine. They are doing some awesome things with that V6.
Forgive your friends, They know not what they speak.

I see your interested in model cars, that is cool. I have some cars I put together in the late 60's still and a few I have been building in the last 10 years again. It is a good hobby that will be really nice to have around even as you get older. I dont think there is anything wrong with a V6 engine at all. The worst thing about owning a V6 Mustang is thinking it is a V8. And Beefy is right, their are some really good tricks to apply to a V6 Stang.

I had a 88 Cougar that had a V6, I think it was a 3.8 liter and it was a find engine and although I didn't race it, it ran plenty fast enough. I was working 48 miles from home at that time and always running late. Luckly almost all of the miles was interstate. You would be surprized how little time it can take to travel 48 miles. That Ford product had over 196,000 miles on it when I sold it and still ran dern good.

I like my v6 it is the 4.6 it runs with the best of them .They are getting as much power out of a v6 now as they did v8. Hay BigBry the stgight 6 is not a wuss they can turn some rpm .Rember the old 235 with the split ex manifol?

I have a V6 in my Lumina APV van with 190,000 on the clock and with regular oil changes and a fresh set of plugs, it still runs like a top! As far as a V6 in a mustang, well, some people have to walk before they can run. That V6 can still be fun cruise around in.

the 82 has a 2.8 liter v6 with over 300,000 miles on it and other then a valve rattle (cos i use cheap gas) i have no problems with it at all, and belive it or not it'll spin the p235 75 r14's i have on the back with ease.

The old Ford 240 and 300 straight six is a very good engine. So was the little 170, they will run forever, The Dodge slant 6 is a good one too. Woops this thread is about the V6, should have started another thread to talk about a straight six

thats just a rough estimate, my aunt and uncle owned the car b4 me and they went over 10 years without a speedo cable so the odometer never turned and they drive roughly 35k miles a year or so. and the odo. has 225... on it right now so i figure at least 300k on that car probally more most likely alot more. and wheel where at in VA are you?

I think the question has been answered about the V6 and we all thought that it is not. Just ask any Buick Gran National owner about a V6 and you will be told it is not.
