I was wondering if this would be a good idea to ask for some car songs to make a garage CD. Songs like "she's real fine in my 409" or "Hot Rod Lincoln" Songs like that. I want to put together a couple of CD's and thought that most of us car buffs would remember some or even new ones. I have a few but would love more. If this is a bad idea I will remove it and go on my merry little way..Thanks in advance and any and all input is valuable..I have a few already, but more would be great.

Pink Cadillac, Little Red Corvette, and what was the name of that song that goes something like this. Until my daddy took the T-bird away?

I forgot one, you may not want to listen to this one. It's kind of depressing but I believe it's called Teddy Bear. I remember listen to it when I was a kid. I believe it's about a truck driver getting killed on account of a school bus load of kids, or about a kid talking on a CB radio to a truck drivers. If towtrucks hasn't packed his computer up he might remember the name. And tow I mean no disrespect, just thought you might remember the song. Who knows maybe I'm talking about two different songs.

The songs you are talking about are:
1. Fun, Fun, fun by the beach boys
2. Teddy Bear by Red Sovine (crippled kid on CB and Trucker tearjerker)
3. Phantom 309 by Red Sovine (Ghost Truck- Driver killed due to a busload of kids)

Don't forget :
Dead mans curve by Jan and Dean
Little GTO by Jan and Dean (i believe)
Little old lady from pasadena (beach boys I think)

Do a search on car songs or Road tunes etc.

And speaking of Seger, his version of Turn the Page is much better. Just an opinion.

Metallica has 2 maybe three good songs. They killed Napster. I say BOYCOTT Metallica. LOL :D

I have not heard their rendition of Turn the page but I'll bet ya money Seger did it better.

Holy crap you guys are old. These are all songs that they would play on radio stations that my parents listen to and they're over 60. O.k., you guys are elderly and of course, wise and I say that with the utmost respect. For several years I listened to the old Rock and Roll from the 50's and early 60's almost exclusively. Then I started listening to late 60's, and 1970's music. Funny, I used to have a tape (yeah remember cassette tapes?) that had nothing but Car songs on it. I wonder what happened to it?
Now that I think of it, The book Christine by Stephen King has lyrics from car songs at the beginning of every chapter and at the end of the book names the song and artist.

Did you ever hear the story about Brian Wilson stretching an extension cord out to the street and setting a reel to reel recorder behind his 62 biscuit to get the beginning revs of "409"?

How about Molly Hatchet, Flirtin With Disaster... ESPN once did the opening segment for the Bristol night race using that song. Then EA Sports (I think) used the same segment at the start of their Nascar 2 game. Good stuff.

Kazaa? Bad program, Bad. It is full of spyware and adware. They have allot of virus' and hacks disquised as songs too.
Check out Shareaza. It has no "extra's" to worry about.
http://www.shareaza.com/

Then get SpyBot Search and Destroy to get rid of all the garbage that Kazaa brought with it.
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-1

Kazaa is bad, very bad.

I am constantly on the lookout for spyware and adware. I do allot of "business" on my computer and I dont need anything recording my keystrokes and passing on my usernames and passwords along. Not to mention my credit card numbers.

If you uninstall Kazaa there are a couple of things it will leave behind to spy on you. One of these programs is B3D Projector. Go ahead and do a search. You'll find it.

Hey s10, what songs have you got ?

Beefy, did you have kazaa, and if you had did you go in and check do not share files? The reason I'm asking is because I noticed that people were downloading songs off my computer and I didn't want anyone going into my computer but me.

I believe you download songs off other people's computer so they do the same thing to you. Isn't that how it works? Any how that's what I done check those places where it says do not share files.

Is adware those pop up advertisements? That drives me crazy when that happens. Besides it interferes with my speech recognition (Dragon NaturallySpeaking ) when I'm downloading songs.

I'm going to check out Shareaza and see how I like it. I also looked in my control panel and sure enough there was B3D Projector sticking out like a sore thumb. So if I remove this from my system it won't affect anything will it , you also said a couple of things, what are the others?

There are 4 different programs in Kazaa. B3D projector is the one that is the most obvious. I can't remember the names of the others but if you get SpyBot it will destroy them.

Now let me say off the top that since these are all copyrighted songs it illegal to do what i say later in this and Im not condoning this activity.
Im taking this from live music traders(of bands like Dave Matthes Band, Soulive, and Phish all of whom aknoledge(sp?) and condone this) but why don't we do a tree? The basic idea is to distribute the CDs fast without any one person making 400 copies. What happens is the original creator or recorder sends it to say 10 people. Now those ten people send it to another 10 people each so now 100 people have the collection(10^2=100) and if they send it to another 10 people its now 1000(10^3=1000). This is done b&p style. This basically means that if I was one of the first group I would send the creator how ever many CDs it comes out to and a bubble mailer(availible at the PO) inside another larger bubble mailer(Both bubble mailers should have postage ~$1). Then he would burn with my cd-rs and send them back to me in the smaller mailer(this way it costs him nothing and only costs me <$5). I used to have a link with a better explanation of b&p which i will try to find. If people are interested I would be more then glad to help organize and send out shipments. IF this gets off the ground it would probaly be wise to create a seperate thread for sign ups. Does this sound like a good idea?

It works on the same basis as a pyramid scheme but theres no money exchanged. The page for the b&P is at http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/ . Yes it is about the greatful dead but it works just the same for this. Any while Beefy is correct and you could just download them all for youself lets assume your on 56k connection add each song is 3 minutes(I know this is not even close and you can adjust the final answeres for your self) if its 4 cds thats 2800 megs(almost 3 gig). With a optimal connection (56k, physically impossible) 311 hours or 12 days or a little less then 2 weeks to download. Now if this was live music they quality lose when made into MP3s would also come into play but since this is already MP3s it doesn't matter.
