1990 Ford F150 XLT Lariat -- 302 V-8 EFI 4 Spd. w/od (manual)

Hello,

I posted this 'problem' a few weeks ago and had some very good responses. but my problem still persists! When I turn the air conditioning on the truck runs fine, sometimes, but most of the time it dies when I slow down or stop. It will restart without any problems, but it does this repeatedly. I had this truck in the shop and they did a diagnostic check on it and the check did not show anything at all. The mechanic said, that some of these pickups had a sensor/module/something on the compressor to kick the rpm's up when the compressor comes on. He said that evidently this vehicle was not made that way. Maybe a 'new' computer would ficx the problem?

I would like to use my airconditioining when I have to go out in this 90+ weather, but with this problem I can't. It does not die everytime, I get behind the wheel. Any ideas?

Dretched with sweat in Saint Joseph, Missouri!

May God 'bless' you and yours always!

There is an electrical connection that makes you engine idle faster when the Air Conditioning is on so it wont stall. Or maybe it would be more correctly stated if I said "maintains your idle speed". I can't figure out where it is on my 92 F-150 XLT (I went out and looked). It must be computer controlled. The carbed engines used a dash pot that was adjustable. This Fuel Injection thing is killing me.

If that is a fuel injected engine it should have a idle air bypass motor mounted onto the throtle body area. My sugestion would be take that off and see if it is all gummed up not letting air flow through it. Sometimes you can just clean them out with some carb and choke cleaner and they work fine. The way it actualy works is that the trucks computer sees that the ac clutch is engaged and it opens the idle bypass a bit more. Hope that helped some.
