How can I install a 350 cu. in. G.M. engine and transmission into my 2000 dodge ram. I know the mechanics but not the electronics and linkages

It's a 2000. Trade it in. Don't ruin it's value. Trade it in on a Ford.

Once again I feel the need to respond with, "Ya' know guys, there is a reason why Ford outsells Chevy and GMC combined and Dodge is dragging way behind"
Oh wait, before ya' go:
Dodges new Super (Hemi) Truck $40K plus 345 HP
Chevies new Super (SS) Truck $40K plus 320 HP
Ford Lighting Almost $40K 360 HP
That new Chevy Curvy Thing Way over $40K Way under powered.
Lets not forget the rear wheel drive thing.
Hey whats up with the Ugly nose on that Cadillac Pick-up? Looks like an ugly Chebby.
I have said many time I like Chebbies and Dodges but I prefer Fords.
LOL :D

I really wanted a Ford when I bought my Chevy but I could'nt aford a Ford so I bought a Chevy haven't been sorry yet. Ive done very little to my truck and it runs better than Ive ever expected. When I was test driving the trucks the Chevy out preformed the Ford. Thats my two cents.

LOLOL most people that have too much time on their hands prefer fords as the fords need a lot of attention and that keeps the ford boys busy. i prefer to get in and drive and that's why i drive chevy.

ok listen... in heavy duty trucks the Ford f350 superduty with the powerstroke deisel and torque shift tranny i mean pushin 600 lb/ft of torque is almost unbeatable by anything production.... but i'll give it to the chevy guys... my pop's 92 suburban has almost 170k miles on it and other than plugs wires and oil it really doesn't take a whole lot. But i still love my fords...but am open to anything

why would you want to put a 350 gm engine in a 2000 dodge ram?

That is a pretty silly idea, isn't it.

His initial post says it all. He is used to the mechanics of the 350 Chevy. This is the same reason my dad had insisted on every new truck he bought be converted to points. He understood how they worked and it didn't matter how much I pointed out the benefits of electronic ignition. He could see any benefits because he was unable to wrap his mind around it. His first fuel injected engine messed him up bad. He couldn't find anybody to convert it to carb and points for him. LOL
I bought an 83 Ford F150 from him in 1990. He cried like a baby when I converted it back to the stock ignition. He paid $600 to convert it to points.

Rather than make a mix match truck, why not beef up the 5.9, 360 ci ? I have a '99 durango with that motor, 3.92 rear end, performance chip and pulled a 26' trailer with that.
My dad also has a '96 4x4 2500 with the 5.9, standard tranny. It's been great for him.
If it's flat out power you need, go Diesel..you wont go back to gas. (at least I wont).:D

I don't think you ever really said why your PO'd with your RAM. But I'll say this: I had a 99 silverado, and what I found is that GM is waaay too common, and after market parts and mods you can get for free at the drive threw at burger king (and before anyone comments, that was a joke to make a point) step up to the challange and keep the 360. spend the time to find the things you need to make it better. Leave the "cookie-cutter" chevy's to all the "non-english" speaking guys at the construction sites, who went that direction because peseo aren't worth what thay used to be, if you catch my drift. Something made you "fall in love" with the Ram, go with that, and don't give in. If you need suggestions, or help let me know.

Personnaly......I love my '01 Dodge Ram.
It's also a fact that right now it sits in my driveway waiting for me to put it's $3,800 replacement AOD transmission in it.
The $1,200 Dodge replacement tranny is so weak that they won't even warranty it. Jasper engines and transmissions have a 3 year 75,000 warranty on that transmission (regaurdless of who puts it in) because they beef them up with lots of extra parts that Chrysler forgot to put in. Like 5 gears in the O/D planetary sets, instead of 3, and extra clutch disks in the clutch packs and an improved oil cooler. (the O/D planetary drive went out on mine)
The 360 and all the rest right now suit me fine......FOR NOW.....
