Don't quote me here, but I thought that the 250 and 292 were the same block.... You might be thinking of the old "Stovebolt" Chevy's like the 235

235 and 250 were, for the most part the same engine. The 292 is the truck and industrial engine. A bunch beefier parts inside.

Back in the 70's and 80's those brown delivery vans ran mostly on the 292.

They even developed an engine that ran on drip gas from the 292.

BTW....both had the side mounted dist. That was a design that started with the Blue Flame engine that was the terror in the 53 Corvette.
