I know in the past I have given suggestions on nitrous systems. But as I always say I go on here say when it comes to nitrous. I do not have NOS on my car but this is what this post is about, suggestions. Here is some specs on my engine in the 86 firebird I have, please give some suggestions for the horsepower range I should choose. Thanks
350 engine
Wieand "stealth" series intake
750 Elderbrock carb.
hardend pushrods
roller rockers
6.0 in rods
Keith Black Pistons
New 54cc heads with 194 valves
Hook*r headers
High volume high pressure oil pump.
steel pinned oil pump rod
Crane Cam 480/480 lift 292/292 duration 106 lobe seperation
anti bleed hydralic lifters
All new bearings including cam bearing installed
double roller timing chain
hot coil & 8.8 wires
All parts listed are New. They have less than 50 miles on them at this time.
I also installed the 350 turbo transmission
It has a 3.42 rear gear
This is what the engine includes. Give some suggestions on what the engine could hold on a weekend to weekend situation in a NOS system. Like would the 150 shot be to much or to little. I am running a mechanical fuel pump also. All suggestions would help. I know about all the Nitrous brand names and where to get them but the "how much of a shot" of nitrous is in question.
thanks

**** WILLEY,
I have been doing N20 research and can say a 50-75 shot is pretty safe. But on a V8 like that I would go in the 100-200 range. You can prob get 100-150 without problems. Some of the V8 N20 users on here should be able to help out more.

one of the things I would do would run a electric fuel pump you want to keep very god pressure you should be able to run 100 to 200 shot remeber if you dont get it to the ground it wont help though but you know that allready

hey, we have almost the same specs as far as the motor goes, i run my lil baby with a 175 shot and have no problems. Just to be safe i come off the timming 6-8 degrees depending on how i feel and what the outside temps are. Of course hotter air less timming...you know....but i have no problems other than it is a bit tough on the plugs.. but hey, speed anit cheap.
I do however have lager valves, an msd 6a, and a holley high volume mech fuel pump. It all works well for me and i have seen high 11's with only a 3.31 rear gear.
if any other questions....mail me

I dont really plan to go any higher than about a 150 shot. I dont want a lot of bearing load on the engine right now with it not being driven alot. Any special oil like synthetic required or recommend for NOS? Can I run the NOS with the 118 octane fuel that I run?

The answer to that is Either synthetic or Regular Oil will work fine, YES 118 octane gas will work fine also. HA I knew the answers to those two questions!!! I work with a guy that uses 118 octane to race and uses Halvoline oil. I think thats how you spell it. I spell my oil Castrol GTX or Red Line. Depends on how rich i am when I need to change my oil.

Sounds like you have a real nice combo there. as for the NOS with 58cc heads and 1.94 valves and the size cam you have I wouldn't run much more than 150hp shotMAX. I would try it out with a 75hp shot and go from there.
54cc heads with small valves, and the Duration on the cam could produce to much cylinder pressure at wide open throttle and cause detonation, so stick to around the 75-150hp shot , and get an elecric fuel pump.

Anyone know a good brand of nos? One that doesn't fail.

Zex has a new design that is suppose to be VERY reliant check out how it works in my post to BigBry in the Episode section the thread name is "Help us with our Caballero project" I have the last post and go into detail on how Zex works. I think they are badass so I am going to give them a try.
