egr valve

I have a 1994 chevy camaro 3.4l 6 cyl. engine. Service
engine soon light comes on trouble code reads EGR
Valve synolid 3. Have put three different valves on,
cleaned ports,light still comes on. Service engine soon
lights comes on when car reaches interstate speed
and then slows down. Car runs fine but has a little
spark knock that it didn't have before. Have had
car in repair shop at least six times over last year
and am still in same boat as i started. Any help
would be helpful. Thanks

try pulling the vacuum hose off the egr valve and see if that cures your spark knock.

are you talking about the solenoid that controls the vacuum to the egr valve?

i know on the fords there is a solenoid to control the vacuum, and theres also a electric sensor to determine how much the egr is opened.


I remember seeing a shadetree mechanic where they replaced an electric EGR off a chevy which was flooded by water.

My brother has a 94 camaro with the 3.4 and his did the same thing until we reset the computer after the service on the car was done. Just a reminder to reset the computer by pulling the battery cables off for a minute or two and then reinstalling them. The car could be sending the old code still. Just a thought without listening to the vehicle run.
