up graden' a 69 chevy
I just purchased a 69 chevy that is still all original. I want to up grade the front suspension to a 75 chevy front suspension. But I am not exactlly sure that it will work. If does I need some guidence in finding what equiment and parts I will need to tackle this task. The truck still has the in-line 6 in it which is going to be removed and a 350 combo to take its place. Will I need to change and remount the motor mounts in a different location? The rear suspension is being replaced by the 75 chevy as well. But not sure if will be a good swap. Desperatly in need of suggestions or anything that might help. Please contact me at:

75 to 69 body ?????
They are two different body styles......don't understand why you would want to attempt that ???? The 73 through 83 (I think it's 83) body style is very common and a ton of them around still. The 68-72 body style is not as common but still desireable. Besides that the 73 through 79 bodies were rust buckets....(I owned a few of them). Unless, of course you mean front end suspension........ Many of the parts do fit.....Steering box does if you want to upgrade to a power steering set up. The rest of the parts can be rebuilt...no need to change them. The rear end and dif I would have to agree...the coil spring and torque tube set up was not all that good.......Can be done...look around for some retro kits.

I meant front end suspension. I am looking for better responsiveness and want to put disk breaks on the truck. Get rid of those drum breaks that I hate so much. I.F.S. and I.R.S. systems are to exspensive for my budget. And to top that professionals cost an arm and a leg to make those mods. Found a tech article in Classic Trucks magazine and it helped me find a source to complete the rear axle and susupension issue. Main concern now is the front suspension and the engine swap. Will I have to have a special drive shaft to make up the space between the trany and the axle?

The Internal Revenue Service is now in the repair business?????
I still say leave the 69 stock, and buy a 75, or 76, or so..... Brakes are NOTHING to be experimenting with..... |

vocabulary
I.R.S.- Independent Rear Suspension.
I.F.S.- Independent Front Suspension. Some big words for those who don't know what those abbreviations stand for. |

in '72 chevy made several pickups with disc brakes, the parts for this might be easier to get than to swap/fit parts from another setup.
