Brakes stick

I have 65 Chevy PU. It seems that my brakes stick from time to time. I can tell it because when I set at a stop sign with my cluch in it does not roll and it did before at that same spot. I can also feel it when I am rolling slow and push in on the cluch, it feels just like I have my brake on slightly. What could be wrong?

I am assuming these are still drum brakes. I would say you have a brake out of adjustment..

Something that I have found on a few rare occasions is that the flex line that goes from the steel lines to the wheel cylinders can sometimes collapse and cause restrictions, thus cause the brake shoes to drag. This can also happen to disc brakes. Remember that there is also a flex hose near the rear differential.
Flex hoses are cheap, and do wear out. Replace them.

I found what towtruck just said...recently. My son's right front brake line collapsed and left his brakes in the applied position, therefore th caliper would not relax. Talkin about smoke.

Also, on my company truck, I noticed a clunk each and every time I came to a rest after braking. As soon as I released the brakes and applied acceleration the clunk took place, as though some sort of release. It turned out (after exhausting trouble shooting) that both my rear wheel cylinders were sticking and not returning to free position when the brakes were in relaxed position. They WERE old and amazing they lasted as long as they did. BTW, they did not leak.

Any of what Beefy, towtrucks and myself said could be the problem. It won't be costly but will add to premature brake failure if you don't get them done soon.

let us know what you find
