!994 chevy truck backfires help Please!

My truck a 94 chevt silverado 2 wheel drive 5.7L 3500 k2500 backfires when I take of from stop or give it gas on freeway. This is begining to happen more frequently now. just 1 or 2 backfire noises it started a month ago like this it wouldn't shift into gear all the time I would have to help it shift with gas pedal. I changed PVC, Air Filter, Inline Fuel Filter. Any suggestions? Could it be distributor cap or EGR valve Help please where should I start?

You need to buy a fuel pressure gauge to do this. Autozone/Napa, any of the parts stores will have one.

it could be the whole plug, cap, rotor, etc. thing.

but get a fuel pressure guage and check out the fuel pressure! you can probably get one for 35-40 bucks.

Look on your fuel rails and there will be a place at the end to hock up the gauge that looks like a value steam with a cap on it. Test in the on postion with the engine off. and with it running. You will have to do some checking around to see what pressure you should have.

If it's not the fuel or anything else above mentioned, My next best guess is egr valve. Bad egr valves will make engine hesitate, backfire, rough idle. Usually you'll get a check engine light but not always.

no check engine light I recall a couple months ago that my speedometer was sticking could that have anything to do with it? Or what about my rear drum brakes I recall my brake light used to come on but then it just stopped. I have new wires and cap and rotor I will change today. Thanks everyone
