Trader Ray
Has anyone heard from Ray? I tried to call but evidently, he has changed his number. Just curious about his health.
Talk to me boy!

Hello Daniel, things are starting to look up right now, lost my hearing for a while and had a few surgeries and I can hear now, had a tumor in my throat and got it removed then waited about 10 months to get another surgery on my ears and so far this one seems to be working and it is nice to hear all the little things again. I look forward to being on here more now even though I kind of have taken a farther stance from all I used to do.
I am going to be one of those old guys that the repair shops hate coming in as I have done what they do and remember all the tricks that can happen easily.

Glad to hear things are looking brighter, Ray.
On the road analogy, some roads merge with another, then run together, then continue on. Sometimes they separate and go their own way. Other times they become one. Such is life. |

Thanks for all the great thoughtfull words everyone! Things are looking and sounding better everyday right now, a example, lol is yesterday while driving back from Doc it was barely raining so I used the delay wiper and I could actually hear the timer click just before the blade would take off---awsome! Small thing to be happy about but for me a really big thing.
Now a math question, I must be having a brain fart, while making holiday drinks, I wanted to figure out the percentage of one item, I had 6 quarts of apple type drink such as cider and juice and wanted to add 1 quart of another item. SO 7 quarts total with the one quart item being what I wanted to know the percent, it is 190 proof everclear so I am trying to find the percent so I can double to find the proof of the entire 7 quart beverage. ![]() So would I get the total number of ounces and Well, then what? the entire amount of ounces is 224 but that is about as far as I can get! any help?? getting old for sure.

Ray: Good to see you back. It's been such a long time. I too have been absent from the forum for some time.
I recently retired and between priorities and schedual everything seemed to change. I suppose reorganizing one's life style. 7 / 6 x 100= 16%. Your 7th quart is 16% more than the total of 6 quarts http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question...7113004AAfYMf6 I always found that anything any of us ever needed to know these days we can simply Google it. From the tricky to the mundane, Google usually comes through. I've been stuck on a few things, so if I have a question I Google it and usually find the answer I'm looking for. BTW when you Google an answer and you don't get results chnage your wording or search criteria and you'll find different answers |

I beg to differ on the answer. (it is an answer, but not the answer to the question asked)
everclear = 1 quart total = 6 quarts juice + 1 quart everclear = 7 quarts total mixture Therefore 1 quart everclear / 7 quart total = 1/7 = 14.29% -- (so everclear is 14.29% of the total mixture) now 190 proof = 95% alcohol (divided by 2) -- (everclear is 95% alcohol) So 14.29% of 95% = 13.58% alcohol in the total mixture. Your mixture contains 13.58% alcohol or it is 27 proof, if you prefer. Yes, I am a bit anal, as you can see I carry too many decimal points. This proves that google will get you an answer instantly, but it may not be the correct answer! I fear our young people will never learn anything and blindly accept what ever they are told. We are quickly becoming "We the Sheople" !!! Us old dogs are even falling into this pattern. The pups haven't a chance. Find the recipe for cinnamon apple pie. I think you just add the cinnamon, but I don't know how much. PS A 7 ounce glass of your mixed drink contains a one ounce shot of eveclear, in case you were wondering. I was only refering to the ratio of the 6 and 7 quarts. Each quart can contain a myriad ratio of alchohol. That's a formula on its own, which you most likely gave the correct number

190 divided by 7 = 27.14 proof
