I saw a 53 or 54 with a S10 frame under it, recently. It had a 305 in it. The frame is plenty good for a show car. It is too light to be used to haul heavy loads or to put much power into it IMHO. It could be beefed up, if needed. If you want to drag race, buy a frame designed for it.

If you know the dimensions and how to weld (engine angle, relocate your deferential) you can box your frame and it would be pretty strong.
But if you're in doubt, I would check with Art Morrison.com. Just tell them what you're doing and they will fix you right up. It all depends on how much money you want to spend. And the boneyard's are full of them. But like I said, you need to know your dimensions and how to modify things. Hope this helps.
