I also recently acquired a 427 to put in it, but have now been doing a little research on deisels and now im getting a little more and more interested with it. my question is, do you guys think is worth the work? I havent really work with diesels much, so Its gonna be new territory for me. any info is appreciated thx |

For one a diesel engine has no vacuum, so you have to add a vacuum pump to operate heater/ac dampers. What about power brakes? Factory installs use power steering pump pressure for the power brakes.
Diesel has a lot of filters and other special fuel needs. You have to swap out the entire fuel system. They also require a huge radiator and if turbo another for it. Requires a massive transmission and another radiator for it. Different drive shaft. Exhaust replacement. You will need to figure out how to wire in the glow plugs, if you want to start it. Unless you have the entire donor truck to remove the parts from, I say it is not worth it, and I like a diesel. |

Some of the easiest swaps is using just a plain ol 4bt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioOCT...=results_video
Can be found in bread trucks, ups, fed ex trucks. Some were even used in hummers.
