Running a little hot
I've just replaced my timing chain on 1990 chevy 454ss now it is wanting to run a little hot about 210-215 somewhere in there. Do I have to readjust my distubutor for my timing? I've pulled out the thermostat. Also would running real thick oil cause this?

Thicker oil wouldn't have anything to do with the running hot, in fact it will run a little cooler. The problem is probably your timing. If your timing is off a little it will run a few degrees hotter. Just put a light on it and advance or retard with the distributer. You probably got it advanced a little to much. Move your distributer just a hair back and check again. Using a light would be better than setting the engine by ear. If its in time then check your thermostat. Taking it out will make more trouble. Many don't believe it but when driving a vehicle, it will run hotter without the thermostat "mostly at a red light".

I have ran 60 weight before and it didn't run hotter.
