Leveling a 2002 Chevy Silverado 4x4

I've been doing alot of research on this subject recently. I own a 2002 Chevy Silverado 4x4. I want to raise the front 3 inches or so to level the truck. I was going to just re-adjust the torsion bars. I'm glad I did'nt!

This is what I found on-line:

"Why can't I just crank up my torsion bars and achieve the same thing"?
Cranking up the torsion bar adjusting bolt with the factory indexing cams will cause the top of the cam lever to "bottom out" against the inside of the cross member channel and grind against it at approximately 1" increase in lift. Although this might get you 1" of lift, it will not allow for any clearance, fine tuning or side-to-side ride height adjustment. If the adjusting bolt is forced beyond the factory cam's range, it will wipe the threads from the bolt or crack the thread block and cause the torsion bar to release violently.

I guess ( I'm no mechanic) you can go to Ford and buy two "Torsion Keys" off a 2000 Ford F150 4x4 to install on your chevy! I hav'ent done this install as of yet but, I'll keep you guys posted.

Parts- Ford Part # XL3Z-5B328-CA. 2000 FORD F150 4x4. You will need 2 of these.

Let me know if anyone knows the Pro's and Con's of this.

Here's the WebSite I was looking at:

Thanks..... Joey

DO NOT F WITH THE TORSION BARS!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen many people do so and it only spells trouble. The direction in which the bar is turned to allow a higher ride height takes away all upwayd wheel travel. this means when you hit a bump you wheel will not bounce up as it is suposed to, however, you will have that much more downward travel. just from normal bumps like pot holes, speed bumps, and the like; you will break them. im telling you, get a lift spindle, your looking at about $350.

Have you looked into putting in blocks in the front?

you cant put blocks because it does not use leaf springs in the front.
