GMC CHEVY 4.3 TO 350 V8 conversion

Seeking detailed info (tape or Book) describing the GMC CHEVY ASTRO/SAFARI minnie van 4.3L to 350 V8 conversion process. Particularly concerned with computer, chip, exhaust manifold, radiator, motor mounts, tranny, TBI and other modifications. Also, need info regarding the removal of the 4.3 block. Ex; should the block be removed from the front end or from below and does the tranny need to be removed?

They have almost everything for anything. The 4.3 and the smallblock both have the same bellhousing boltpattern so that should simplify the installation some...

your crazy if you try to pull that thing out from the top. From below it might be tough too but i would pull off the front clip and take it out the front.

I would take the 4.3 out from the bottom of the Safari. As for the conversion to the V8, someone said go to the Advance Adapters and/or JTR Conversions website which I agree.

If you are getting the V8 from a donor vehicle make sure you take the wiring harness and computer too.

Also check out http://www.racecraftconversions.com.

They'll have everything you need. And Allan Hopkins is a great guy and does fantastic fabrication work. He did the narrowed frame and differential on my Nova drag car.

PS. there is a shop in OH that will sell you a ECM pre program for your needs with all the goodies. if you need the info shout at me I'll forward the info

My neighbor across the street has a friend who comes to visit him that has a 2004 CHevy Astro that has been bagged (air ride) and has a big block. He doesn't bring the van very often, but the next time he does, I'll get some pictures. The thing is awesome!
