Kill Switch

how can I rig up a kill switch or button to start my car. I want to have this so that only I can drive it. I have asked the question in a way when I asked about the push button starter. For the same reason just a different way of going about it

on a ford solenoid you just have to run a hot lead to the push button and a lead to the solenoid. you could put a hidden switch in line to prevent power to the push button.

In the past, I have seen vehicles that are "rigged" to start ONLY when the brake pedal is depressed, OR when the left or right turn signal is activated, OR when the headlights are on.
There are a number of ways to redirect the power to an ignition switch than using the ignition switch wiring harness.

You might also try using a horn button that requires you to push it to activate the ignition system. HIDE THE BUTTON.....

OR, route the "fire" to the distributor through a HIDDEN toggle switch.

Just get a toggle switch and insert it to the "+" side of the coil wire, then put the switch anywere you like, get a good switch that will handle the current. That is a real good Idea you have considering that your car's ignition is on the dash. In the old days when that car you have was a lot newer the easy way to start one if you lost the keys was to just unplug the ignition from the back and plug in another, Ford trucks are the same way, some use a center screw to keep the connection in place. That is how we started a lot of cars at the junk yard. You could even put the switch in the trunk if you wanted.

my little ford friend.......
are you trying to keep some friend that has a spare key to your car from using it, or are you trying to prevent your car from being stolen????
You should know that it takes ONLY about 10 seconds to steal your car. Fords are the EASIEST cars to hot wire as it only takes a jumper wire and a screwdriver across the solenoid and the car is running, no matter if you have a hidden switch or not. Because your car does not have a locking steering wheel, it's gone in a matter of seconds.
To prevent theft of your car, think about locking your hood, having a removable steering wheel, or use a Denver boot.
Those silly alarms do nothing more than create a noise that nobody pays any attention to. And just because the alarm says it will kill the ignition system, IT CAN STILL BE STARTED !!!

One way to cause trouble for a car thief would be to put a hidden switch on your head lights or tail lights. Most cars are stolen at night and if they steal yours and are driving with no lights the police are more apt to see the car and the thief is most likely to get out of it when they notice no lights are on. Just a thought.

Just to let you know, do this experiment ............
Take a wire, about 24 inches of 12 ga. wire. Place an alligator clip on each end. Now clip one end to the positive (+) side of the battery and clip the other end to the positive (+) side of the coil. Now take a heavy screwdriver and cross the solonoid from the battery side wire to the terminal. You may need to slide the wire back covering the terminal. 3 seconds to connect the wire, 5 seconds to spin the engine, 2 seconds to run around and get into the vehicle and your GONE!!!!!!!!

WARNING.........WARNING...........WARNING......... ..

MAKE DOUBLE DOG GONE SURE THE VEHICLE IS EITHER IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AS IT WILL START NO MATTER ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SELECTION

boy aint that the truth, I hot wired a truck once and if it were not for the spare tire being mounted on the front bumper, I would have lost my legs when it started up and hit a wall behind me, it was a manual trans.

By all means you could connect them by sodering them and the sylinoid is the little black part that your battery connectes to and then another cable runs to your starter.
