Remote Starter Solenoid

I bought a remote starter solenoid from Summit for my 1990 Chevy 454 (in motorhome). Solenoid went bad after one year and I hunted for a replacement. Rockauto.com has Standard Motor Products solenoid #SS588X (for Ford fender mount) (X suffix is heavy duty). Note in box says "Do not use with on board computers, may damage EEC. Vehicles with computers need solenoids with suppression diodes." Lots of motorhomes are using the basic Ford fender starter solenoid to cure hot start problems with the 454 Chevy. Is this warning really a concern in this use? Is there a certain computer set up where this is a concern? Thanks.
