Rear End Swap 2001 Chevy 1500HD 4X4
I am looking to change the ratio in my 2001 Chevy 1500HD 4X4 to allow me to pull a 5th Wheel trailer that weighs 11,000 Pounds. I currently have 3.73 ratio and want to know what is required to be changed to go to a 4.10 ratio.
Does the front gear have to be changed? Does the Computer need and work? Does the Transmission need any work?

PULL OR TOW 11,000 POUNDS?????
You don't need to change differentials, YOU NEED TO CHANGE TRUCKS....... pulling that much weight should be done with a dual wheel 1-1/2 ton truck. Yeah, I can hear you now, that truck will pull the weight. And your right, I can pull (or push) your truck, with my bare hands, BUT, can I stop your truck going downhill, or in this case, can you control the weight??? Even though the trailer has brakes, that much weight will slap your truck arould like a rag doll. By the way, check my screen name and ask me how many times I have recovered trucks out of the ditch pulling far more than they are designed to do. |

I thought this post seemed familiar, why did you start another post rather than picking up on the other post you started?
