Worth it??

My gas gaduge is messed up. Cant see the neddle mean full, full mart mean half, and half mean fumes. Is it worth to try and repair it, because I am pritty sure that I would have to change the fuel pump if that is where the sensor*( dont knwo what to call it) is.

Reason I am asking is I dont trust the gaduge so I use the trip. and at 200 or so miles I will gas up. My mother took the car to mass last weekend to pick up my cousin to help us with the house. About 150 miles a way. She gased up befor and about half way back, but... even though I told her to do so she forgot to reset the trip. Finaly when I noticed that there were 450 miles on the trip I hurried tot he station and found that I put a little over 15 gallons into a 15.5 gallon tank. Close call huh, so is it worth it? Or just tell her to take her own car next time hehe

P.S. Look I used enter this time. Cant say that I will be able to remember all the time though

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, yeah I'd say its a good idea to replace the sending unit. You might just have something as simple as a bad float.

sometimes the sender just gets stuck, needs to be shook loose

yea it works, the gauges seem to last forever. we have a 30 year
old fork lift with a good gauge, bad sender.

I have a heated 2 car garage. 1 half has all my wifes stuff in it and my sons 4X4 Ranger is in the other half. He is rebuilding it and it cant be moved by one old fat guy (my pusher is broken). So, I canged my alternator in the driveway today. It was -12 with a 10 mph wind. Anyone want a free Ranger?
