84 Bronco II

-21 degrees when I got up this morning. Every Ford in the driveway started. The Chevy didn't. That is not my question though. (Just Bragging) My Bronco II engine warms up normally and the hoses get nice and hot and the hose going to the heater core does too. The one coming from the heater core and returning to the engine get luke warm at best and on the warmer days (20+) you can get a very small amount of heat. With the temp this morning, I froze my butt off getting across town after a 20 minute warm-up (@ idle). I am assuming that my heater core is blocked (partially, mostly).
Is there a product that would restore coolant flow in my heater core?

I have cleaned out the airbox and used some acid my brother gave me to clean the AC thingy in the box as it was plugged (brother is heating and AC man) and I have awesome airflow (cold air LOL).

I am hoping that one of you guys knows of a product as that box is a bear to get apart and the core is not leaking. Yet.

Warm engine no heat......A Ford trait......I'm kidding....no I'm not !!

The E 150 van I have did the same today.....went 15 miles with the temp needle on cold before it warmed up. Never did get much heat from the heater.

Last year the core was plugged up on it so I ran a hose with back pressure on the system.....ran it backwards through the core. Mixed air with it and it broke loose all sorts of nasty stuff.

It ain't plugged up now...just puts out diddley for heat.......

Did start though......after I got the ignition switch to turn. 163,000 on a 5.0

little heat

Bronco,

I had a ford maverick once & almost froze to death one thanksgiving because the darned water flow valve going to the heater core was stuck shut. You might check the flow valve prior to other more time consuming & expensive repairs.

hey beefy another thing you can do that kicks out alot of heat is buy a off-road heater. It's like those heaters in the back of the school bus in that seat you always hated lol. But this one is smaller and does kick out a ton of heat. You can find them at JCWhitney.com. The only sucky part is running 5/8 heater hoses too the heater from the engine compartment.
