1990 Nissan Truck Transmission Help

OK first I'd like to thank you guys for answering a previous question for me on my timing chain job I did. Now the bad news, I couldn't get my front cover to not leak no matter how many times or how slowly and carefully I went at it. So I took the truck to a local garage and have a real mechanic do the job. I got screwed on that deal but the truck no longer leaks oil. Basically what I would have paid to have the timing chian replaced would have been cheaper than fixing my oil leak.

Anyhow I just picked up the truck from the garage and drove it home. Something didn't sound right at first then I rolled down the window and listened to the truck. Seems like my transmission is now making a high-pitched squealing sound while driving down the road. If I take the transmission out of gear, or engage the clutch the squeal goes away and this happens in all gears but I generally have to be going around 10MPH before I can actually hear it. If I stick my head out the window while driving it sounds like it's coming from the right front tire, weird. Now I know if I bring it right back to the garage tomorrow they are goning to tell me they didn't even touch the transmission and to bring it in so they can milk me of more money since they also work on transmissions.

Also to note I resently had 2 gears replaced in my transmission because they were making noises. The guy I took it to showed me the gears he replaced and they were infact slightly damaged, seems they had a little groove or slash on 1 tooth on each gear. Guys, I need some serious advice. I am station in Alaska currently and have to move to Kansas at the beginning of next week (Monday). I'll drive the truck as it is if I have to but I'd rather get it fixed (3500 miles to Kansas). Does this high-pitched squeal indicate anything to you? It just started and I'm going broke fixing this truck but I know once I get the repairs done I'll not have to worry about THOSE problems any more. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

EDIT* It's a 1990 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 4x4 with a 2.4L engine(KA24E) and a 5speed manual transmission(FS5W71C). Has 105k miles.

If you feel unconfortable using the current shop, quit complaining about it and stay. You only make matters worse.
Go to the shop that did the transmission work and ask them about the noise.
It sounds like the clutch release bearing. (Throw out bearing)

Since the noise goes away, that tells me that it's the pilot bearing. With the clutch enguaged the pressure is released on the input shaft and the noise dissapears.

The pilot bearing is a round sleeve on the engine side of things. It's one of those things that should have been replaced during a clutch job, but most ppl don't. And I wouldn't recommend trying to it yourself, because there is a special puller that you need.

And have fun at Ft. Riley. :-)

Thanks Odawg. The clutch is fairly new said the guy I brought it to for the gears to be replaced. And sorry Towtrucks about sounding like I was whining (which I was) it's just alot of pressure on me right now with this move and the truck problems don't help matters any.

Brought the truck back this morning and had a talk with the owner, he's going to try and work with me on this oil leak issue. I didn't know this but apparnetly there is a lemon law about work preformed so that's always in my favor. Hopefully they can get the job finished and stop the leak as originally agreed upon.
