Memory Lapse

I guess the promotion guys at SpeedTv did their jobs.

What was Speed called before Fox bought them?

I believe it was called Speedvision.

Sorry carguy, we must have been posting at the same time. Didn't mean to steal your answer.

yea it used to be speedvision.. i've heard complants in the area that i live in that they show too much nascar, and not enough of everything else.. people say it didn't go that way till it changed to speed channel.. i think it still has a mixture like it did before

I liked Speedvision a little more than what we have now in Speed. Back in the earlier days they were much more varied in coverage and also had a far amount of airplane stuff. I really liked the coverage of the "Warbirds" of WWII. Now there was some engines!

I got to watch the 1984 Talladega race yesterday. It doesn't get any better then that. So my question is.......did the old speed channel show these old races?

Yeah, that was it. And I did like the whole channel better as SpeedVision. Way more variety in the kinds of racing. Nascar is fine, but not 24 hours a day.

Didn't NASCAR buy into Speedvision? I think they actually own part of it. I believe that was the cause for the name change.
