brake system bleeding

Question: in bleeding brake system on an ABS equipped 93 Chevy Van using the old push the brake pedal, hose into bottle, open and close the bleeder screw method the van will not shift out of Park after starting the van. Is there an internal valve in the ABS system that needs to be opened to fully bleed system? To unlock park I must switch the key to the first position in the ignition, put into neutral and then start the Van.

Try resetting the computer. If that doesn't help turn on ignition pump the brake pedal a few times and then bleed it some more. You could have enough air in the system that the sensor is telling the computer to not disengage the shifter.

I had the same problem with my 94 SHO. there is a safty switch that gets triggard when the pedal hits the floor to lock into park....in my Sho I had to take the consol off the shifter and hit a reset button...Not sure where yours would be located on your van tho
