Sounds like a short in the switch or in the motor....You can try to bypass the switch and hot wire it to work......Just a thought.....

A buddy or mine has a 98 Chevy half ton 4X4. His wipers was doing the same thing. He found a wire that had come loose (?) from the wire motor. Just a thought. A jumper would be a good test or temporary get ya home fix but repair it properly. Jury rigs unless done well enough that they fall under the term Fabrication are always a bad idea.

OK, thanks. Been trying to remember, it was something about a
printed circuit board on the wiper motor. maybe just replace it.

Your problem is most likely a faulty wiper motor module. It does resemble a printed circuit board so you are probably thinking of the right part.

You can either replace it with a new board or take the old one out and resolder the broken solder joints located right next to the plug in.

GM issued a recall on this subject and your truck (depending on the year) may be covered...check with your local GM dealer.

I had the same problem on my lumina van and found a loose connection of the fuse for the wipers. Simple fix, but worth a look see.
