just got my new units, now I still can't figure out how to check the igniter to see if it is good. What kind of test would to run with multimeter? e.g continuity test, I get no reading at all on both new and old one. Someone knows, please help.

I STOLE THIS FROM ANOTHER SITE!!!! From CRX Owners Group. I still think it belongs on a gas grill. LOL
![]() Testing the Igniter If you suspect that your Igniter is bad, here are some basic tests you can perform. You will need a volt meter or a test lamp. First, check and fix any other ECU error codes before troubleshooting the Igniter. If your engine is not firing up (no spark), check the fuse first (located in the dash fuse box): On 1985 thru 1991, it's fuse #32 which is a 50A fuse On 1992 thru 1995 (Civic/del Sol), it's fuse #39 which is a 50A fuse If the fuse is OK, then do the following: Remove the distributor cap, rotor and the leak cover. Remove the wires from the Igniter (4 of them). Check for voltage between the BLACK/YELLOW wire and the body ground with the ignition switch ON and check to see if you have battery voltage (+12VDC). If there is no voltage, check for an open in the BLACK/YELLOW wire between the Igniter and the ignition switch. If there is battery voltage, go to the next step. Check for voltage between the WHITE/BLUE wire and the body ground with the ignition switch ON. There should be battery voltage (+12VDC). If there is no voltage, check for a bad Ignition coil or an open in the WHITE/BLUE wire between the Igniter and the Ignition coil. If there is battery voltage, go to the next step. Check for continuity between the WHITE wire and the body ground. If there is no continuity, check for an open in the WHITE wire between the Igniter and the PGM-FI ECU or there may be a poor ground at G101 or G151. If there is continuity, then go to the next step. Check for continuity between the BLUE wire and the body ground. If there is no continuity, check for an open in the BLUE wire between the Igniter and the tachometer or at the A/T control unit. The ground could also be poor at G151, G301 or G401. If there is continuity, go to the next step. If all the tests listed above passes and the engine still will not start, replace the igniter.

thank you beefy, that is a lot of useful info there. i'm sure that this will clear up the problem of how to tell if the ignitor is bad or not even if it's not on a grill-lol
