Air piping

Anybody know where I can find info on air piping my compressor in my new garage. I need info on type piping and recommended design and layout.

I seem to remember an episode where this was explained or maybe it was dream car garage. Anyway any info as to where I could find information would be appreciated.

Everyone that I have seen has used steel waterpipe about 1/2 to 3/4 in diameter. In some locations this stuff is called "blackpipe".

I wanted to use plastic because it has to be outside some distance and I was concerned about condesation and rusting.

Thanks for your reply

My garage, and my grandpas garage were done in PVC. Its holding up fine in my garage and has been up and fine with no problems for almost 10 years in my grandpas. Our shop is done in copper pipe and has been fine for nearly 15 years.

water pipe is galvanized and black pipe has a special coating for natural gas-never mix up the two for your own safety.

OK, I learned something new. Still, unless it is going to carry gas it is a non-issue. Yes?

I have used 2" waterpipe as a 30 foot antenna mast. It is very strong, it took 100 MPH straight line winds to bring it down but it did come down.

I believe PVC has it's burst strength printed on it in PSI (pound per square inch). I would choose some with the proper rating.

if you are not drinking from it i guess it is a non issue, gas deteriorates the galvanizing which is why there is black pipe and in reality neither is rust proof.

if pvc is used make sure that it is schedule 40 and you use the cleaner before you cement the joints. i have seen people try to just cement the joints without the cleaner just to have the pipe blow apart.

remember to use caution when doing any kind of compressed air project, work in a safe manner.

See why they won't let me do any plumbing.
I think I'll go have another ham sandwitch.
A ham sandwitch will kill you so I have to be careful here. Just ask Momma Cass. LOL
She was a good looking fat girl.
