Cookie Cutter Shows

It seems that all of the "vehicle" shows seem to have a common theme. Two (or 3) Guys garage, Trucks, Horsepower T.V., Hot Rod T.V., among others start off with the vehicle on the dyno getting a base line run, then the add ons to increase horsepower, then the end results. Everybody patting each other on the back and then to commercial. When the show returns, they put on wheels, or graphics to enhance the vehicle.
And the shows tend to end with a LOT of puns to offset the actual expense to "enhance" the vehicle.

TOW, I couldn't agree more... To me, it seems like the "project" is only about 1/3 of the show.. "commercials" and "infommercials" take up the other 2/3, but, I guess that's what make these shows possible. I'm really only interested in the first 1/3. What really distresses me is sitting thru 3 commercials, showing the show's logo, and the announcer says. "Stay tuned for more Horsepower (or whatever), and immediately fading to 4 more commercials. Makes me want to flip the channel to something more interesting like a National Geographic Special on the mating habits of the North African red spider mite... aghhhhhh

Well, back to a more serious note, Again, I get distressed when I see a $3000 '66 Olds 442 getting a "make-over" where they plunk down $30,000 (probably more like $50,000) to enhance the appearance and performance in order to make it worth... say...somewhere around $15,000.... Did we just "throw away" $15,000 or am I missing something??? Is the "satisfaction" worth it?? I dunno, with 3 "young adult" females living in my household, I'll just have to hold on to my dreams... and read car magazines.... and watch TV... and drink MGD...

OK, Al, let's hear all the smart remarks....... at least you have a son that can mow the grass....

I do like Danica Patrick telling about what is coming next though. She once had a great web site.

Alot of times we dump serious money into cars not caring about their value afterwards, alot of customizing only lowers resale, do to insurance hikes and what not. So basically if a person wants to customize a ride, be prepared for a long Marriage to it lol

Ahhhhh.... Talked to "the squaw" about pickin' up a Harley 1200 Sportster (just take over payments)... it's an '04 with 1200 miles on the odometer, and 8 grand left to pay. It also has lots of new "extras" like a seat for the "squaw", leather bags, forward controls, highway pegs, etc, etc, .................................................. .............. .................................................. .................................................. ... .................................................. ................She just laughed..
I was serious..

ROFLMAO......... Yeah, and I got a T-shirt from each of the colleges my daughters have gone thru....... A really nice "Bloomsburg" T with a picutre of their mascot on the back (a husky), and a worn out "Kutztown" T (got it 7 years ago).... not bad for somewhere around $160,000 (so far)....huh??? 2 T shirts for around 80 grand each...... they've GOT to be worth something... Does anyone know the web-site for E-bay.com ???? I'm sellin' them suckers!!!

That's something like "Do you know the telephone number for 911 ????"
