97 BMW 740iL OBDII Cover - how to remove?

I'm checking out a friends 740 to possibly buy, Check Engine light came on. It has OBDII on the dash panel, and I can almost get the cover off to access the connector. The upper is part is sliding out, and it looks like the lower part slides out as well, but does not want to come out. I really, really don't want to crack the cover, but really, really want to know what the code is for. Anyone know how the cover is removed?

Answered my own question the next morning. There is a little tab behind the cover, on the bottom. Downloaded the codes, reset the light. Turns out my buddy has decided to hold on to the car, will be checking back in a few weeks. Darn it.
