Maybe a few of us here watched the Apprentice last night. Did anyone see the new Maybach on there.
Now there's a ride and a half waiting for controversay.
12cylinder and a super luxury liner. Their website has a video online that shows the history. I dates back several decades and they just reserrected the name in '98.

Sure like to know more about this car ath none of us here could afford.

I was stuck in traffic at the Lincoln tunnel along side one a month ago. Took them the same amount of time as me to get through it all .

To even touch a maybach from a technicians standpoint you need to be a mercedes master tech for at least 10 years.

carguy, any idea on some of the specs on those cars? Price, horsepower and other specs?

I just called my buddy and he told me:

Its a twin turbo 12 cylinder with 550 hp, 675 ft lbs. Fully dressed w/out fluids the engine weighs around 650 lbs. The block is magnesium but has aluminum sleeves and around the studs for the heads and what not are also aluminum, aluminum heads, electric water pump and full roller/titanium top end. And it has two spark plugs in each hole like a top fuel/funny car, each plug fires at almost 35 amps. The brakes are two 4 piston calpiers at each rotor like a shelby series one, but the rotors themselves are just regular old rotors, no slots, not drilled. The driver only controls one caliper which is hydroulic, the other is computer controlled and electronically actuated for the ABS, traction control, and adaptive cruise control. It has 2 altenators, 3 batteries (one regular and 2 deep cycle), and an option for a photovoltaic (solar) pannel.

The base price is $300K. On a car like that the base price means nothing. By the time you get the options and what not its well over $400. There is no finance options and there is no test drive unless you get in contact with a current owner. When you buy it you go to a sleek upscale office and do all the paper work, but it actually gets built and sent to a regular benz dealer who then does all the regular dealer stuff like the saftey inspection, then given to the broker to give to the customer. For service you go to a bens dealer driectly or back to your broker who then takes it back to the dealer.

He said that its big like a boat or an old caddy, but it acutally gets up and goes like a sports car and handles great for its large size.

Thank your buddy for the details. I also saw this website but it's not as indepth for us little people http://www.maybachusa.com/. There is a video play on the site that dates back to its original prior to WW2, Maybach motors hence the double M. If I recall the name and the car was dormant for 60 years and they brought it back in 1998, Kind of the the rebirth of the Phenix

. A dream car? No. just a chance for enthusiasts to witness quality beyond our imagination. I heard they make maximum 1,000 cars a year.

It's a good website but found the video plays stop mid point. Too many on their server at once? Could be, not sure. Played it at home on highspeed and again at work on dedicated LAN.
