Southern Steel
The folks from "Milwaukee Iron" from good ol Lynchburg, Virginia are back on Discovery Channel and building some sharp looking bikes. They was on about a year or so ago but then the show was called Southern Chopper.
I like this show a lot more than American Chopper. The guys at Milwaukee Iron seem to be building everything instead on just buying parts and assembling them. I've only gotten to watch the last half of the shows after I get home from work so I may be wrong about that. They built a bike with a sidecar that look right sharp and this week finished up on two bikes that was very nice. A much better show with some ol country boys building bikes in God's country instead of the yankees screaming at each other and sticking doodads all over the motorcycle. I'm only about 120 miles from Lynchburg and if I was single, I'd try to get a job up there. I could go to work everyday with a big ol smile on my face.

the show seems to be a little calmer than american chopper. these guys' main interest are building fenders for bikes.

They do a lot of fenders and that's where OCC gets a lot of theirs from. But they also do triple trees, gas tank extensions, dashes ECT... They have an original Harley Davidson frame table for frame work or repair and can build you a frame. They'll sell you a bike too, but they probably get most of of their business from fender sales. They came up with the self supportive rear fenders and the internal stops for the front forks. A company that believes in MADE IN AMERICA.

I'm no bike expert, but those exhaust pipes look like leg burners to me.

Thing I don't get about these bikes-you can't carry passengers or much of anything else. They're loud and many look like they'll eat/burn your legs if you not REALLY careful. All this for only $35K-$100K or more-what a deal!

I really don't think they (show bikes) are meant to be ridden on a regular basis. The pictures are great, but, where's the seat??? That sheet metal doesn't look very comfortable (probably got cooked by the pipes).

The bikes that they just finished were made just alike, just painted different. That guy with the long hair and beard cracks me up. He doesn't have a worry in the world. But is very talented.
So far, they've been on every Friday night at 8:00 Central Time just before American Hotrod. I hope it continues.

I finish watching the second show of them building the bike called the Nothing Fancy.
The way they cut up the frame and completely redone it. Made the gas tank, oil tank and the fenders look like it was part of the frame. Everything was welded together. This was going to be one sharp ride until I saw it painted. And he was absolutely right, it was Nothing Fancy at all. To me it just look like some old bike painted black. The craftsmanship of this bike is superb, but it looks like a piece of junk. JMO I'm going to continue watching the show though, because it's good. Not all the bickering going on. And I really like Gary, he makes the show. He tickles me to death.

Daniel, I just about have to agree with 100% of what you said. In the way it looked "raw", I thought it was going to be a winner. The paint could have been done, to the effect, of highlighting the seamless construction but all it did was hid it; pitty. I like the guys too, Gary is genius and humble all at the same time.

After seeing how bad they screwed up a bike with a paint job, I didn't think I'd ever watch the show again. But the one they finished tonight was OK. Look real sharp!
If only they had done that with a bike called Nothing Fancy. Now that was a motorcycle with the sorriest paint job I've ever seen.

But everything about that bike was superb. Probably the best bike that I've seen out of all the show's. There were no separate parts, it was built as one piece.
