57 cadillac VIN

Im looking into buying this cadillac,

can anybody breakdown this VIN, im not sure if you can breakdown pre-1965 Vins

Here's a "little" information I found by inputting "1957 Cadillac" into a Google search:
I haven't found anything on how to decipher them:
(maybe you are looking at the "body nameplate")

My "best guess" would be something like this:... 57 indicates the year
62 indicates the "series"

PRODUCTION SERIES NUMBERS
Engine Serial Number Location
The serial number of all 1957 Cadillac engines is stamped on the flat machined boss
cast on the upper right hand corner on the front face of the right hand cylinder block.
This number is also stamped on the frame right hand side member at the rear of the
engine mounting bracket, and on the lubrication plate attached to the front face of the
left door lock pillar.
Engine Unit Number Location
The engine unit number on all engines is stamped on
the bell housing portion of the crankcase behind the left hand cylinder block.
Air Conditioner Compressor Serial Number Location
The serial number plate for the air conditioning compressor is located on
the rear upper edge of the compressor flange.
Body Name Plate
The body style number, body number, and paint and trim numbers are
stamped on a plate attached to the top surface of the left
air duct cover under the hood, near the cowl.
Rear Axle Gear Ratio Identification Number Location
The gear ratio of the differential assembly may be identified by the number stamped
on the front face of the carrier assembly. Rear axle gear ratio applications in the
various series cars.
Hydra-Matic Transmission Unit Number Location
The Hydra-Matic transmission unit number is stamped on a plate attached to the
left side of the transmission case, just to the rear of the transmission throttle and
manual levers.
Radio Serial Number Location
The radio serial number plate is located
on the left side of the tuner unit.
Autronic Eye Serial Number Location
The Autronic Eye serial number plate is located on the bottom of the Photo tube
unit (mounted on the left side of the instrument panel).

Here's a little book that tells you everything, it's the best I could find today, but, I'll keep looking...
"THE GENUINE CORVETTE BLACK BOOK 1953-1998" by Michael Antonick, Published by MICHAEL BRUCE ASSOCIATES, INC. Updated yearly, is a pocket size reference to Vette casting numbers, engine suffix codes, RPO numbers, model year options and production numbers.

Your local bookstore should be able to get it...

Well, I haven't been able to find anything else yet, but, I'll keep trying when I have a few moments... Yeah, Aaron might like that book... It'll make him an expert very quickly ('specially if the book is in his pocket)
