93 Ford E-150 Alarm System?

I have a 1993 Ford Conversion E-150 van with a 302 (5 L). It has, I think, a factory installed alarm system. I got the van used. When you shut the door, it will automatically lock the door after a few seconds. I had the motor replaced.

Now, the van may start and run or not start. If you cut it off, it will not start. You can short it out at the solenoid with the ignition switch on and it will run. Sometimes it will start normally and other times it will not.
1. Is there any way to tell if the alarm system is factory installed?
2. Is there any way to disconnect the alarm system. (I was told, it is connected to the onboard computer and would have to take it to the Ford dealership to have the code reset. There is not any code showing or blinking lights on the dash.)
3. Is there any way to tell what the problem is and how to fix it?
Thank you very much in advance.
John

It might be, that your starting problem isn't alarm related. Some alarms can be disabled. But on a ford factory setup I have no idea how it's done. Being you can start it by jumping the wires on the solenoid I'm thinking it's either the solenoid or ignition switch or if it has a switch on the transmission that's not tripping.(might want to check your linkage) I wouldn't think a 93 alarm system would have anything to do with starting and stopping the engine. I know on a chevy most alarms will just turn off the fuel pump. The engine will still crank but without gas it won't start. If it happens to you again move the shift lever up and down through all the gears and try to start it.
