Chevy brake light

Hey all.

My 03 Cheby S-10 has a problem with the 3rd brake light not working.

Bulbs and fuses all check ok. I was just wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram for that circuit. Or maybe a link that could help me out?

Thanks.

you could use your light tester to see if you have power to the socket(brake pedal applied of course)

Way ahead of you, Danny.

I guess I forgot to say that I already checked for power and ground at the light.

ARRRGGGGHHHH! A vehicle with < 30K should not be having these kinda probs!

Did you get light when you tested it? I almost think them tail lights have led bulbs?. And I also wonder if that is in the fuse box that may have blowen.

First, it has regular bulbs, not LED. And all of the fuses in the cab check out. That's why I'm thinking it's a wiring problem.

I guess it's time for me to purchase a shop manual.......

any power? ground good?

you're right this shouldn't be a problem on that new of a vehicle. call the local dealer and ask the service techs if there are any tsb's for this problem.

Funny how that went bad in a 03, Must be a defective part or wire. I'll look in my manual tonight and see if that truck has a signal switch box. I don't know the real name of it. But what it does is when you step on the brake and have a turn signal on. It will keep the middle brake light on. I'm wondering if it has this little signal box. And if that goes bad you won't have any power to the brake light. I'll see if it has one and try to find out where it's located if it even has one.

Thanks in advance, Justen.

It's just one of those things, I guess.

I looked in my book and didn't find anything on the signal box, but that doesn't mean it has one or not. To bad you can't trace the wires.

Thanks for checking, Justen.

I'm hoping it's still under warranty and I'll see if I can't take care of it this Friday. I'll let you know what happens.
