Question about those rear discs.

Which Lincon donated them? And, would the entire axle bolt into my 84 Mustang in place if it's 7.5", or should I just get an 8.8" and add the Lincon components to it? The 7.5" is going to have to go, I have a 351W that will be going in the car at some point in the future.

Re: Question about those rear discs.

You need an 8.8... The housings are different, but the axel and brakes will interchange. If you are going to put a 351W in it, they make a 9" Ford replacement rear end as well.

You will need to change your wheels from 4 to 5 bolt pattern. It will make your rear end about 2 inches wider so check tire clerance

Well, due to budjet restrictions(Canadain dollar is worth ~60 cents US), an 8.8 will suffice for now, I picked up an 87 GT with a blown 5.0 and bad floors for $500, so I have the 8.8". Tire clearance is no big deal, if there isn't enough, I have a Sawz-All :-) So, will any late model Lincon axles work, or am I after specific model, and if so, which one? No need to worry about breaking it with the 351W for a good while, I still have to dissamble it and send it to the machine shop, and I haven't decided wether to rebuild the 3.8 and turbo it for better handling, or just stick the 351W in and be done with it. The car might see a drag strip, but, it will see the track quite often.

81-87 Lincoln Continental for conversion to 8.8 with disc brakes.

You can get the front rotors off the same car and you will have 5 lug all the way around.

Thank you very much. I just thought of something, those should also be a bolt on on a Ranger, Bronco II(may just have had the 7.5, I've never worked on one) or early Explorer with an 8.8, they already have the correct 5 lug pattern, and all the brackets etc. should bolt up.

I don't think they will interchange the rotor back spacing is different and the brake calipers mounting are different.
