I have a rear end question

I have a 63 Nova. I am replacing the rearend in it. I have two Options. 1) the stock style rearend from a 65 Nova. It has a drop out third member. 2) is the S-10 rearend. standard ten bolt with a removable rear cover, and bigger brakes. My question is this. I plan on replacing the gears in either one with a 4:11 set. Now since both rears are ten bolt gm, will they both take the same gearset, or does the older set with the drop out section use a different style ring and pinion? Thanks Duane

My gear supplier tells me they are not the same. The bearings and shims are different as well as some other small things. We have used a number of S-10 units and were very happy with them.
