Took the track tour and went to the museum. Just at twenty dollars a piece (if you get the three dollars off coupon). The track is truly something to behold, 33 degree banking looks a lot different up close and personal.

Sorry for the highjack but I thought I'd direct this thread to a more useful purpose.
I can't get excited about NASCAR - oh boy, round and round in the same direction with a bunch of cars that have the same top speed and are mechanically indentical underneath the plastic shell that is supposed to look like some production car. What a bunch of **.

You want racing, check out some of the European Grand Prix races, where they race production cars on city streets in crappy weather and all night long. Especially when some driver fails to negotiate a curve and takes out a row or two of the spectators at the edge of the road.

I also like off road races like the Baja 1000 or the Paris-Dakar race.

I noticed that too - if japanese cars are so great, why don't you see any that are more than a few years old on the streets???

I have lost count of how many domestic cars and trucks I have seen driving around town that are more than 20 years old. Very rarely do I see a J-A-P car that is more than 10 years old on the street.

Now I am not a "car r_a_c_i_s_t", I have owned and driven Japanese cars, and I think the japs make some pretty **** good cars and engines. But so many people make idiots of themselves when they proudly proclaim that they would never own an American car because *** cars are so much better. What morons. There are good *** cars and there is *** crap, just as there are good domestic cars and there is American crap.

And frankly, if someone in their brand new Lexus hits my 20 year old Ford, it wont be my car that ends up on the back of a flatbed towtruck. But it will cause me to spend $30 at the junkyard fixing my car to pre-collision condition!

(WOW - the words "J_A_P" and the word "r_a_c_i_s_t" are censored! ***!?)

Ok heres a dumb question. Why is it, everytime I see a use japanese car or someone talking about one, it has or 160,000 miles on it? Is the speedometers lying? or do these people buy japanese cars and drive the entire united states and canada a few times. I don't get it. When I see a ford or chevy car the same year it has maybe 40-60,000 miles on it. Maybe 90,000 but usually thats a guy that drives 50 miles one way to work.

I like most types of auto races. I agree that Nascar has lost its edge with me the last few years, I went about 10 years without missing a Bucsh or Cup race. The off road rally races are awsome, I like to watch them but hardley catch them on tv. There they run cars that look like street cars except for the sponsors names all over them and all the lights.

I loved watching the stadium series for 4x4 trucks but that is almost non exsistent on the tube anymore. And the swamp buggy races were awsome.

That is a valid question, part of a answer is they are all modified with the new big wheel/small tire look. Could it be that these people dont get the trans re-calibrated for these combo's and driving 10 miles tacks on 15 without the correct settings?

My PT has the big wheel, small tire combo, but the trans has been re-calibrated. I have 225/45/18's on it. I bought it with the rims, the tires were shot at the time and I tried to do everything to trade for a stock set of wheels, short of buying new from a dealer. It is too new to get them at a junk yard. Then it is a 05 and from what one yard told me the 05 came with 18's special order, they fit 05 only. Then the alumnium wheels are for a few years, and the cast a few other years and the steel another set of years altogether. And they was the only place around here to have any and only had 2.

I spent a little over $450.00 to buy new rubber for the wheels that I hated, but I can honestly say that with these new tires the PT handles like it is on tracks, I can see why the fad is so popular, but it needs to be done right, not just bolting on any wheel to any car and hoping it dont rub.

There is now a tire and wheel interchange book at all tire stores that tells you what you can do to upsize your wheels and run in my case 18's instead of the factory 16's.

Now, back to topic.

I feel it is like this, sports along with movies, raceing or just about anything, being a computer nut or a ham radio lover, or a artist or watching tennis or fishing on tv is just plain everyday entertainment. Period. I for one love watching sports, of course the sports of my choice, which is a good race and baseball, basketball and others, what they get paid is none of my concern, if it is my favorite team and the person is good, heck give him millions so I can brag about my favorite team, it did not cost me a cent, If I go to the game and it is costly, well so be it, all entertainment is costly no matter what you are into.

Of course this is just my opinion and I know this thread started as a joke, and had me going wondering what the heck beefy was talking about. I am upset tonight in the baseball world as the Detroit Tigers just lost and need to win the remainder of the games to win the world series. But they are a team who just 3 years ago lost a record 119 games and now are in the world series this year. GO TIGERS

I don't think speedometer error has much to do with it. I would be more inclined to believe that small imports have higher mileage because youthful owners drive alot more.
